Heat units

X-Ray tube is measured in heat units (HU), the higher the techniques are the higher the heat
units will be.
Formula for calculating heat units:
Single Phase - HU= kVp x mA x s
Three Phase and High Frequency - HU=kVp x mA x s x 1.4
Single Phase Generators HU = kVp x mA x s
HU = 85kVp x 4mA x 2s
HU = 3570
This equation means that my technique is within limits and will produce an adequate
technique without heating the x ray tube
Three Phase Generator HU = kVp x mA x s x 1.4
HU = 155kVp x 350mA x 2s x 1.4
HU = 151,900
This equation means that my technique is way too high according to the cooling chart
and there is a chance of burning out the anode and breaking the x ray tube
High Frequency Generator
HU = kVp x mA x s x 1.4
HU = 65kVp x 250mA x 75s x 1.4
HU = 1,706,250
This equation means that my technique is definitely way too high according to the
cooling chart and like the three phase generator equation, there is a chance that the
anode will overheat and possibly ruin the x ray tube
