many others who need us to walk for them because they cant walk for
themselves, first-year Karly Shaubach said.

$100,000 this year, senior Jackie Fronheiser, the events direction of

About: Relay for Life is a nationwide fundraising event that benefits
the American Cancer Society. In 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt inspired the relay
when he raised $27,000 for the American Cancer Society by walking
and running for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington.
Years later, hundreds of Relay for Life events, in which teams of
participants walk and camp out around a track overnight, are held
around the nation to raise money for the same organization. So far,
these events have raised nearly $5 billion that have gone toward
cancer research around the world.
