AVID Implementation

AVID sends out Launches for attendees to watch before Summer Institute and Boosts for them to
complete within six months after.
June 14-16 AVID Summer Institute: Mix of learning and planning for implementation of AVID at
Franklin.
A site team is created from the Summer Institute attendees.
Attendees present the plan from Summer Institute to Franklin staff at teacher workshop. The
implementation plan will focus on the gradual implementation of AVID. EG: In September,
implement the organizational tool for your grade level. In October, begin implementing the
collaboration strategies.
During weekly collaborations, teams discuss the ways in which they are implementing and will
be implementing WICOR strategies. Summer Institute attendees help provide guidance for their
team.
FLT has conversations at bi-monthly meetings about AVID implementation progress & needs.
Site team meets monthly for 30 minutes to monitor implementation plan. Total of 7-8 thirty
minute meetings during the school year.

Each Summer Institute attendee will receive:


An AVID resource based on your summer institute strand (K-2 or 3-5) (hard copy)
MyAVID account (online account with PD and AVID resources)
CEUs

Additional Support:
AVID Weekly Subscription (Weekly electronic lesson plan ideas)
AVID Showcase School (site visits organized by AVID).
AVID Elementary Path Trainings (1-2 per year) are an option for any staff member.
Building AVID resource library for staff to use.
