THE CHARACTER BOX

TOPIC: LITERATURE Teaching about characters and characteristics in
the story/poem
LEVEL: WEAK/MODERATE/GOOD
METHOD:
1. Break the class into small groups of 4 students.
2. Each group gets a template of a box.
3. Students need to fill in the sides of the box about a character. ( The
teacher can edit the template by adding in questions for students
to answer)
4. Students can refer to books/notes from previous lessons to fill in
the box.
5. Brainstorming for ideas is encouraged
6. The box template is then folded to create the box. Students can
decorate the box for extra creativity.
7. The character box is presented to the class and it is suggested to
be hung in the classroom.

THE MATCHMAKER
TOPIC: Grammar Past and Present tense
LEVEL: WEAK
METHOD:
1. The teacher prepares 2 boxes of words BOX 1 on words in the Present
tense and Box 2 on the same words in the Past tense. The number of
words prepared is based on the number of students in the class.
2. Half the class picks a word from Box 1 and the other half of the class picks
a word from Box 2
3. Students then find their partners Present matched with Past tense words
4. Once found, students arrange their words together on the board.
