PROPOSED
BAMBOO
RESEARCH,
RECREATIONAL PARK AND FACILITY
CONSTRUCTION
AND
With the latest trends such as green architecture, sustainable design and other
programs concern about helping and adapting to environment, many ideas, techniques,
theories and materials are developed useful to the public. One of these is Bamboo as
primary material in construction. Bamboo is one of natures most productive renewable
resources, it became desirable for it to be researched and experimented being also a
serious building material.
Palawan has been a designated Unesco Biosphere Reserve in 1990, the system
of government is purposefully designed for the population to live and work in harmony
with nature. The idea of bamboo as a building material catches the interest of the
Palaweos to build up their own design and techniques on how to create lightweight,
strong, resilient buildings using local bamboo varieties preserved using salt water alone.
The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development also finds a Bamboo useful in
the promotion to the Zero Carbon Resorts project of the European Unions Switch Asia
programme. Zero Carbon Cottage is showcased at Iwahig Complex making the public
experience what it is to live in a structure with total adaptation to the environment.
But despite of the researches and construction of the bamboo made structure, it
is conclusively not promoted well and facilities is quite dispersed and not well enhanced.
The mission of the agencies is not fully established because the public has not been
caught due to lack of knowledge and preferment.
