Sir:
The undersigned 5th Year BS Architecture student, formally submits these three
potential Architectural thesis proposals as partial compliance for the Bachelor of
Science in Architecture to wit:

Proposed Puerto Princesas Innovative Peripheral Park

Proposed Puerto Princesa Tourism Institute Complex: Upholding Identity
through Architecture
Proposed Bamboo Research and Construction Recreational Park and
Facility

Given that the proposals are more on open spaces and complexities, it is for the
reason that parks, recreational areas and open spaces have larger probability for
development regarding the growth of urban areas. They also are known to be flexible
and easy to organize when urbanized.

PROPOSED PUERTO PRINCESAS INNOVATIVE PERIPHERAL PARK

The community's need for greenspace and the part of it in extenuating higher
development density gives the essentiality of parks in the smart growth of urban areas.
Creating peripheral parks located in areas more likely feasible to be an extension of
urban development gives opportunity for a well-organized and planned environment.

Objectives
-

To create a peripheral park concentrating on the strategic innovation of

businesses that the community could accommodate within the scalable and
range sizes offered by the allotted area.

To give prospect of probable expansion of the city outside the central urban area
without being anxious of possible urban sprawl because of its initial function as
recreational area while development is on progression.
To plan and design architecturally landscaped parcel of land which not only
amusing, recreational, and aesthetically conventional but also promotes
sustainable development.

Significance of the Study

To generate an enhanced mixed development zone for different sectors
withstanding the vision of higher density of the community over the years of urban
growth. To avoid the overdevelopment of the central business district and more
agreeable to strengthen the urban city. To aids the threat of losing the green space
of the last frontier, because of modern development and add compliment while still
maintaining the untouchable areas of the environment.

PROPOSED PUERTO PRINCESA TOURISM INSTITUTE COMPLEX:

UPHOLDING IDENTITY THROUGH ARCHITECTURE
Since Puerto Princesa City is known as the Last Frontier and highly
recommended tourist destination when it comes to natural exquisiteness, the citys
tourism is continually growing in demand. The rise of the communitys economy is
directly proportional to the urban development of the city which leads to possible
obliteration of Citys distinctiveness to other places which is dominance of nature.

Objectives
-

To design a structure that provides flexible spaces that is equip and function as
what City Tourism is needing while undertaking their responsibility to improve
specialist knowledge pertaining to the different areas that impact the
development and management of tourism.
To take advantage of the vicinity in revitalizing the identity of Palawan by
planning an architectural landscape showing visually the natural tourist spots and
other essential places in monotonous design replication.
To provide a facility, sub amenities and compound landscape for Puerto Princesa
Tourism Office not only that upgrades their management but also imparts the
pride on what they are naturally have.

Significance of the Study

The threat of probable total urbanization of the community which is the loss of
Palawans natural identity will be lessened. Visually, Tourism Office could promote
the entire Puerto Princesa and serve as another landmark of experience and
imagination

PROPOSED
BAMBOO
RESEARCH,
RECREATIONAL PARK AND FACILITY

CONSTRUCTION

AND

With the latest trends such as green architecture, sustainable design and other
programs concern about helping and adapting to environment, many ideas, techniques,
theories and materials are developed useful to the public. One of these is Bamboo as
primary material in construction. Bamboo is one of natures most productive renewable
resources, it became desirable for it to be researched and experimented being also a
serious building material.
Palawan has been a designated Unesco Biosphere Reserve in 1990, the system
of government is purposefully designed for the population to live and work in harmony
with nature. The idea of bamboo as a building material catches the interest of the
Palaweos to build up their own design and techniques on how to create lightweight,
strong, resilient buildings using local bamboo varieties preserved using salt water alone.
The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development also finds a Bamboo useful in
the promotion to the Zero Carbon Resorts project of the European Unions Switch Asia
programme. Zero Carbon Cottage is showcased at Iwahig Complex making the public
experience what it is to live in a structure with total adaptation to the environment.
But despite of the researches and construction of the bamboo made structure, it
is conclusively not promoted well and facilities is quite dispersed and not well enhanced.
The mission of the agencies is not fully established because the public has not been
caught due to lack of knowledge and preferment.

Objectives

To create a research and construction facility that would support the

enhancement of bamboo as building material.
To provide well equipped structures and sub-structures needed in granting their
mission and vision to bamboo construction
To plan and design a showcasing recreational park within the vicinity to further
promote the use of bamboo as building material and help to make Palawan as

one of the rising advocates of Sustainable Development with complete

adaptation to natural environment
To give opportunities to the community settlers which will empower the locality in
this kind of field and basically be known in this construction
To portray the culture of local Palaweos as the public could be visually
accessible to the entire progress of the research up to the construction and the
showcasing of the built up structure which is the primary mission of the project.
To unify the concern sectors specializing Bamboo in a one whole compromising
complex.

Significance of the Study

To enable Palawan to enhance more the capability of Bamboo, especially local

bamboos, in term of building construction. The provision of well-equipped facility in a
strategized area will support the development of the further researches at the same
time improve the quality of life within or outside the community. The promotion of this
kind of effort is highly advisable because the locality will take pride of this project at
the same time adds to Puerto Princesa City tourism destination that is more cultural,
conservative to environment, revolutionizing and timely to climate change.
Recreational parks will also give funds to maintain and help the progression of the
Bamboo researches. The locality of the materials, procedures of preservation, and
construction techniques and design make it distinctive and true Palaweos pride.

One of the following Architectural Thesis Proposals prepared and submitted by

the student complying with the subject is hopefully be accepted and approved.
Thank you!

Respectfully yours,
