The Word Friend

In the evening of the spring, the weather is starting to get cold. The sun is
setting, the birds are flying. A guy wearing a black sweater and a blue jean walking
into his apartment and knocks on the black door.
Welcome back Gary! the voice from the back of the room by a teenager who
has gray eyes and chestnut hair sitting on the sofa and watching television.
Have you cooked anything for dinner Alex? said Gary while he is walking in
and keep his blue bag into the locker.
No, said Alex while hes still watching television
I am very hungry and you know it! said Gary with a hungry face.
Thats why I havent started cooking yet said by Alex laugh out with a loud
noise.
It is not strange that two of them are playing with each other because they
have
been friends since they were 5 years old until now they already in university. They
living in the small room apartment that not too far from the town, Alex, and Gary
living here for a good nature with no pollution from cars. This city is a quiet town
people transport by walking, the city is not too big and the weather in the city is very
nice.
Why dont we go into the city for dinner? Alex asks while hes closing the
television and picks up his wallet from the desk in front of that television.
Good idea, someone told me that there will be an event at the Town Square.
said Gary.

They catch the little red bus that looks quiet not much people are on the bus
and going into the city, in the city, there is a fashion show event.
The fashion show event looks very busy lots of people are walking and
waiting in the event for the fashion show every restaurant in the event fulfill with
people that want to get they meal, toilet also fulfilled with people in the event. The
line comes along down to the street. However, the event is full of interesting things.
The colors of the light look same as walking in the bar. The music comes from the
radio very loudly, people are dancing on the dance floor in front of the stage, people
in the event look enjoyed with the event even though there are lots of people that
snatch for food toilet and dance floor. Alex and Gary come off from the red small bus
and walking into the front of the event.
Oh wow! Why dont we looking for fashion show first and have dinner later,
said Alex while his eye looks interesting into the stage that waiting for the beautiful
girls who walk and show the fashion clothes.
No! there will be lots of women in the event and Im scared to get to know
them, said Gary with nervous face and try to consult his friend to go somewhere
else.
Be brave my friend, if not when will you have a girlfriend. Alex laughs and
pulls his hand, does not let him leave the event.
Gary who never have a girlfriend before, even though he already 20 years old.
He is shy when he talk with beautiful women, which different from his best friend.
However nothing can stop Gary from being shy, finally, Alex has to get out from the
event and walking to the restaurant in the next street with Gary.
At the time while two of them are talking, one girl come in and talking to Gary.

Sorry, do you know where is the fashion show event ? said girl while she
smiles.
This girl looking beautiful than every girl that Gary has seen before his eye
stop and still looking her face his ear stop working and does not here any noise from
lots of people around him. The girl with pearl white skin wearing a red dress with
beautiful makeup face whenever she smiles she can make all of the world looks
beautiful by her smile which other girls cannot be same as her.
In the next street. Gary answering while having a red face, shying to a
beautiful girl.
Im Ann, what is your name? Ann asked.
G. .G. .G .Gary Gary answered with shivering voice by his eye look
infatuated in her smile and her beautiful face.
Ok, nice to meet you but I have to go now, said Ann with her beautiful smile.
See you, said by Alex and Gary.
This is the first time Gary tried to be brave and talk to girls. After coming back
to an apartment, he sat next to the window and looked outside of the apartment. Her
smile is still floating inside his mind all the time. He still does not know why he
cannot forget her smile, he looks fulfilled of happiness and smiles all the time to hope
to see her again.
Gary goes to the downtown every day and hopes to see her again but he has
never met her again. He stands at the place that he met Ann in the first day from the
dawn until the sun sets. However, the weather will be hot or cold the rain will fall
down, people walking pass him he still waiting but still does not meet her.

Alex know that Gary try to find Ann because he follow his friend every day and
he very pity and does not understand why his friend never have a good love, Alex
help him to find her by walking and asking the people near that area, everything
seem to be bad because Alex still cannot find her but on the way that goes back to
the apartment he take the same bus but today the bus look busy and fulfill with
people, suddenly one old woman try to find seat on the bus. Alex gives her a seat,
she gets very proud of his generosity and said that I have a bakery shop in the city if
you have times you can come and try. Finally, he found that Ann works at a bakery
shop down this street. Alex quickly came back to the apartment and told Gary.
The bakery shop located down the street Alex and Gary apartment the shop
have the window all around to make people see how good the bakery is, the smell so
good from baking bread people that are walking pass that area have to follow the
smell and comes to this bakery shop.
After Gary know he going to bakery shop every day and hide at the coffee
shop that locates in the opposite side of the bakery. He looking from outside of the
window through to the store to see Ann. This bakery shop is not too big but
decorates in the warm tone the shop color and furniture almost decorate by amber
color the wood table and the wood chair also amber. He come every day in the
morning until Ann work end and she get back to her home,he sitting and watching
Ann working she still look beautiful even though while she working and her body full
of sweat because of a lots of customer that come to the bakery shop and the
weather from the oven that hot when baking the bakery. He shy and not have
enough self-confidence to get into the shop and talk to her.

One day he builds up the courage and go into the bakery shop and talking to
her. He walking in with shy motion and his face looking red, everything looking good
for Gary today. There is only few customer in the shop and the shop is near to close.
He walking in and shock in her appearance she looking more beautiful than last time
make his heart beat faster and faster look like his heart will come off his chest.
Oh!it you Gary, said Ann while she standing in front of the counter and
collect money in to the cashier.
H..H..Hi, Ann, while saying Garys face look redder and his heart beat up
that customer nearby him can hear his heart beat.
They sitting at the table in front of the counter after the shop close and talking
for a short period of time the sky look darker and the rain start to come down. The
rain look heavier and the street outside of the store looking danger, no people
walking pass though, the small city looking quiet rapidly. Gary asking Ann for taking
her to her house because he scare something harm will happen to her.
while he walks with her his heart still beat and his face still red but he still
walks beside her. On the way, Ann who is a friendly person he tries to talk with Gary
and flirtations him by she does not know herself. Gary feeling very good with her, he
never met the girl that friendly and nice like her the girl who try to talk with him even
though she know that he is shy, the girl who nice to the person that never meet
before, the girl who can stop every people from her smile and the girl who looking
nice from inside and outside by does not have to do anything.
After that Gary and Ann have a closer relationship, Gary comes to the bakery
shop everyday disregard of the rain will come down or however the weather is or
how strong the wind is. Finally they relationship become closer and closer Gary

wants to ask Ann to be his girlfriend. He walking to a flower shop, in the shop, there
are lots of different type of flower he choosing to find the best flower that suits her.
Choosing for a while, he chooses the white rose that mean the pure love or the love
does not want anything back. He choose white rose to say his feeling pass through
the rose instead of saying. After buy the flower he quickly ask Ann to go to the park
near the bakery shop.
In the park, there are full with the green grass and leaf on the tree fulfill with
green color and flower the bees are on the flower the birds are on the tree and flying
around the park the butterfly are flying in front of the tree the sky look bright and the
wind pass through the park slowly the weather is so good, Gary wearing the black
t-shirt with black suit and grey trouser, he sitting on the bench that locates under the
tree with his face stares on his hand that holding the white beautiful rose.
After waiting for a while, Ann walking into a park she looking beautiful today
with her makeup that look nature with her hair that is blown by the wind, she wearing
a beautiful pink sweater and blue skirt. She standing in the middle of the park Gary
standing up from the bench and walking to the middle of the park in front of Ann he
knew down on the green glass the leaf blown by the wind the bird start to make a
sound the rainbow start to come on the sky he raise his face up he hold her hand
while watching her beautiful smile and give her a beautiful white rose. He asking her
to be his girlfriend with his heart beat up and beat up. This is the first time that he do
the thing like this the answer from Ann make Gary have the most happiness moment
in his life and he cannot believe that he is now having girlfriend he stand up slowly
touch her face with his vibrating hand stare at her beautiful face and her beautiful
smile he slowly put his face close to her cheek and kissing her.

After they two are in the relationship together, they meet each other everyday.
They go shopping together, eating dinner together and do everything together. Gary
fulfills his life with a happiness times that he does not have before.
Tomorrow is Alex birthday, every year Alex and Gary will having a small party
together but this year does not the same as the past year anymore.
Tomorrow,where will we having a party,Alex said with an interesting action.
.....,Gary does not say anything while his face looks worried.
What happen to you we can talk, we are the best friend,Alex said while
groping his shoulder.
I cannot join your party because tomorrow my girlfriend want to go to
shopping,said Gary.
Oh, dont be guilty I understand we can have the party sometimes later my
friend,said Alex.
Alex walking into his room and sitting on his bed and crying by does not want
his friend to have trouble with his girlfriend. Gary who think that his friend can accept
seem happy and looking for tomorrow, the first times in his life that will have a date.
In the next morning, the sky looks bright, the birds flying and the sunshine.The
alarm sound up Gary quickly gets up from his bed, walking into bathroom, taking
shower, wearing his best uniform and using perfume on his blue-shirt. His room
fulfills with a smell of the perfume he walks out from his room and meets Alex.
Good morning,why you wake up so early,said Gary with a smiling face.
Good morning, having a nice date with your girl,said Alex that looks
sadness.
Sorry that I cannot join your party today, Happy Birth Day!said Gary.

Gary sits wearing his shoe, walk out from the apartment and go to a bus stop.
On the way to the downtown he sitting on the bus his thought thinking about how
happiness today date will be while he watching the tree that around him outside of
the bus. In his mind he thinking that he will have breakfast with her, take her to buy
the thing that she want, she will be proud and have a feeling that never has
before.The bus arrives at the bus stop he get out from the bus with happiness and
confidence. He comes to the restaurant that tells Ann to meet, he comes earlier than
the date time for almost one hour.
This Italian restaurant decorates with vintage style, convenient for the dating
partner to have breakfast together. Gary sitting on the table that locates on the
corner of the restaurant. The person who walks in will not see his desk, he can hide
and surprise his girlfriend. He orders the foods that she like spaghetti, pizza,
mushroom risotto and bruschetta. The table full of the foods that shelike just waiting
for her.
The person who surprises is not Ann but that person is himself while he sitting
on the chair Ann walking in with a hansome guy, sitting at other tables by does not
care him. He walking to her and ask who that guy is the answer from her make him
get more surprise by the word. My new boy.
He gets back to his table sitting on the chair the table still full with the food.
The food getting less warm and less warm while his tear comes off more and more.
He looks like he loses the half of his life, the half of his heart and all of his happiness.
The girl who he thinks that she is the person who he is with, the person who he
trusts, the person who he can give all of his life, right now it is in the opposite way.
He does not know what to do everything in the world looking dark he sitting while

watching the sky and talking to himself. Does Im born to be heartbroken man. why
I do not have the person who love me from his heart?. Suddenly, he realises that
there is one person that never leave him alone the person who be with him for very
long times, the person who love him by does not want anything from him. That
person is his best friend. Alex.He shouted loud while his face still looking for the
bright sky.
In the next morning,he feels guilty that he leave his best friend alone on his
birthday. He quickly wakes up before the sunrise up go to the downtown and prepare
for Alex birthday surprise by prepare one dish of steak the food that Alex love more
than anything else. He neatly grills the beef with the grillade his face sweat from the
fire but he still concentrates on the steak he wants it to be as perfect as Alex moms
cooked.
He calling Alex to the downtown and waiting to surprise him with his hand
holding the perfect steak dish his eye looking around to find where is his friend.
Everything in life is not always right the mind thinks, on the way that Alex
come to downtown he walking cross the street and suddenly a car come with high
speed strike him.Alex falls down to the floor his body smash by a car. Alex is
hospitalizing immediately when Gary know that Alex got accident he quickly going to
a hospital. When he arrive at the hospital he quickly walking to the reception desk
and ask.
Where is my friend, the person who has car accident! said Gary with
alarmingly reaction.
Admitted in the Operating Room on the third floor, said by the reception
nurse.

Gary run as fast as he can to the third floor and waiting in front of the
Operating Room. He waiting and waiting for hour past and hour past by does not go
anywhere else he walking around that area waiting for the result of open-heart
surgery. Doctor walk out from the Operating Room, Gary asks the result rapidly with
worry face.
My friend is out of the danger position already right?said Gary while his tear
start to come off.
It too late, when he arrive at the hospital,said doctor with and sadly voice.
What do you mean?please tell me that you are just joking, Gary said with his
tear continue to come off stronger and stronger.
Sorry I do as good as I can but he arrives at the hospital too late,said doctor.
When Gary hear the last sentence that doctor say he knew down on the floor
crying in front of the operation room, in front of a doctor and in front of every citizen
in the hospital. This time Gary does not feel bad same as when he broke up with his
ex-girlfriend but this time is just like all of his heart and life going out from his body,
the sky looking dark, the rain come down as strong as his tear come off from his
face,the sound of the thunderbolt as loud as his cry voice, the bird flying back to nest
the sun lose from the sky the world looking dark while his tear come off from his face
and fall down to the floor.
Can I say something to you,doctor ask with his hand soft touch to his
shoulder.
.....Gary face up while he knew down with his eye start looking red and with
his tear on his face.

I have working here since 10 years ago, I saw lots of situation that same as
you are, they crying when the person that their love dont stay with them already
please do the thing that you want to do for the person you love until it too late to
having good times with the person that you love,doctor say and walking away from
Gary.
Before doctor walks away he gives some letter. This letter is written by Alex
with his last minute of life. In the letter say that This may be the last word from me
you dont have to be sad on my going I am not going anywhere else I will stay beside
and please dont cry because right now I still smile. Gary holding the letter and
trying to stop crying as his friend say on the letter but it make he feel more guilty and
crying harder the tear that come off from his face fall down to the floor slowly, right
now the tear fall down to the floor faster and faster, stronger and stronger.However,
he standing up and try to be smile as his best friend wrote on the letter.
After Gary buried his friend at graveyard with sadness he going back to the
same apartment he walk in the apartment this times he does not have to knock the
door, no one will open the door for him he has to get the key out and get in the room
by himself, no one will talking from the back of the room no one will play him. The
room that fulfills with happiness and funny thing,today the room fulfill of sadness.
From the small room, Gary does not know why today the room look larger and
lonely. He sitting on the same sofa that his best friend always sits. Gary realize that
how important his friend is and he is now knowing and give more important to The
World Friend.
