the venue has been named
after her. Expect this one to
be an emotional gig.
Stuie French and
The Honky Tonk
Machine hit the

stage at7.30pm. This is
bound tobe a night of
good music. The guitar
master has played with
many artists over the years
(including Merle Haggard
when he toured Australia
in 1996).

DAY FIVE - Our top picks

AT 11am, Pat
Drummond will step up
to the microphone in
the Goonoo Goonoo Room
at the Longyard. The former
school teacher, apart from
being no stranger to the
Longyard, is a wonderful
storyteller. If you have
never seen Pat before its
sure to be a gig you will
remember, as much for the
stories behind the songs as
the music itself. This gig is
billed as Pat Drummond and

SIBLINGS: Brother and sister duo Kaylens Rain will play in Toyota Park at the Telstra #LIVEANDLOUD concert.

Friends, so expect plenty of

guests on the stage.
Luella and The
Heelers are playing
in the Tamworth
Services Club lounge
from midday. Luella Widt
served her apprenticeship
in country music on the

famous Brian Young Show,

following in the footsteps
of Beccy Cole and Troy
Cassar-Daley. A firstclass entertainer, you can
expect a top-notch show.
Some of our best
young talent is
playing in Toyota

Park tonight at Telstra

#LIVEANDLOUD. Caitlyn
Shadbolt, Kaylens Rain,
Chelsea Basham, Kaylee
Bell and Melanie Dyer
will all be on the stage,
which will make for a
fun night. It all kicks

DAY SIX - Our top picks

IN THE late 1990s,

Shanley Del was among
our best female country
artists. She is teaming up
with 2014 Golden Guitar
winner Lachlan Bryan
for a gig at Econolodge
at midday. Bryans music
has been labelled both
Americana andalternative.
HEAD upstairs at Peel

today at 3pm and you
will catch Matt Scullion
and friends. This is another
gig where you can expect

surprise guests turning up.

A talented songwriter, Matt
has spent a lot of the time
in recent years based in
Nashville. He has written
songs for Lee Kernaghan,
Sara Storer and Adam
Harvey among others.

TONIGHT, the
Tamworth Town Hall
stage will see an
array of artists performing
in Country Music Cares, a
fundraiser for the Lock the
Gate Alliance. The alliance
highlights concerns with

CSG mining on agricultural

land and plenty of artists
are lending their support to
this gig. The lineup includes
Allan Caswell, TheApril
Family, The Weeping
Willows, The Bushwackers
and Pat Drummond.

14-17 years. If its really
hot outside, then this just
might be the best place
intown.
The Family Hotels
Honky Tonk bar is
one of my favourite
venues at the festival. The
staircase behind the stage
makes it feel like youre
listening to live music in
someones basement, and
they have some great acts.
Today, the 2007 Star Maker
winner Kirsty Lee Akers is
taking to the stage. With a
sound that lies somewhere
between traditional and
contemporary, Kirsty will
be joined by a couple of
special guests in a show
which gets underway
at11.30am.
The 2017 Toyota

TODAY is when the

festival gets really
busy, and its all
happening down Peel
Street in the morning at
the Toyota Country Music
Cavalcade, with crowds
lining the street to see all
the stars. But if you head
into the Town Hall at
10am, you can check out
the Battle of Young Stars.
This is where the best
talent, under the age of
18, will be playing in three
categories: Nine years and
under, 10-13 years and

need to see at least once.

Check out all the stars
on the red carpet before
moving inside for the
awards ceremony, which
always features great live
performances. The great
thing about being there
is you see the winners
speeches in full - the TV
broadcast often cuts out
the best parts.

DAY TEN- Our top picks

THE Final full day of the

festival always has a
melancholy feel to it.
1997 Star Maker winner Lyn
Bowtell is on stage in the
The Albert Hotels marquee
from 1pm. Lyn has one of
the best voices around and
the show will feature a few
friends so will be worth
seeing.
A festival tradition,
The Bushwackers
Chardonnay Show is
a great way to spend the
final afternoon of the 2017

Tamworth Country Music

Festival. It dates back
to 1994 when childrens
entertainer Don Spencer was
at the festival. If you want to
hear the full story, get along
to this one at 4pm and were
sure Dobe Newton will fill
you in.

Heres a great way to

wrap up the festival.
Theres plenty of talent
quests and competitions over
the 10 days, and the Toyota
Last Roundup brings all the
winners together for a festival
finale in Toyota Park from
7pm. It will include the artists

who triumphed at Toyota

Star Maker, the Busking
Championships, Aristocrat
Country Entertainer of the
Year, Coca-Cola Battle of the
Bands, Battle of the Young
Stars, Golden Guitar winners
and Peoples Choice Award
winners.
