CHARACTER ANALYSIS FOR VOCAL INTERPREATION AND

WHO?
AGE: 40
HEALTH: I am a healthy male.
FAMILY AND SOCIAL BACKGROUND: My parents were two
alcoholics and they always drank, and had their friend over every
weekend. My whole family was very sociable, making me love
being around crowds. I would always hangout my parents friends
children when they came over. I was always around my family and
always with my friends. I was a very sociable kid, who grew up to
talk a lot. My two parents were amazing, they always cared for
me and my other brother and sisters. But they always drank, and
it would cause a lot of fights between them too. Eventually, the
alcohol took their lives. My mother had liver cancer, and my dad
passed away from cancer, which the doctors think was to do with
the over amount of alcohol he drank. This took a toll on my life,
and made me never want to drink. But when I turned 22 I had my
first sip of alcohol, and ever for a while I have been an alcoholic
and if it wasnt for my wife, I would still be in the same position.
GEOGRAPHIC BIRTH AND UPBRINGING: I grew up in Manhattan
and have been here all my life. With my parents we lived in a
middle-class single family home. But when I finally had a job I
moved in a better location in the city. I travel around the country
a lot for my job. I work as a purchaser for goods for a supermarket
chain, and I travel around places to find new products to bring in
the store.

MENTAL CONDITION: Recovering alcoholic but a stable man.


EDUCATION: I went to college for business degree.
VOCATION: Purchaser for goods for a supermarket chain. I travel
around the country to implement and bring in the business.
AVOCATIONS: Drinking alcohol.

WHO ARE THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE SCENE? Sarah, and Robert
HOW DO YOU SPEAK TO THEM AND BEHAVE TOWARD THEM? I
speak to Robert very kindly to make him feel welcome and at
home. I speak to Sarah still kind but I get very annoyed of the
topic she is bringing forward.
HOW THEY SPEAK AND BEHAVE TOWARD YOU? Robert is very
respectful and is asking a lot of questions. Sarah keeps bringing
information up that I do not want Robert to know. She behaves
like she is better than me and knows everything.
HOW DOES THAT AFFECT (OR REFLECT) YOUR THOUGHTS, YOUR
FEELINGS, YOUR WORDS AND YOUR ACTIONS? This affects my
thoughts because we have a guest over and my wife is making it
seem like she is better than me, I have to remain calm.

WHAT IS THE EVENT (THE HAPPENING OR THE OCCASION) IN
WHICH YOU FIND YOURSELF? We had just finished a long dinner,
and now Robert and I are sitting down talking.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE COURSE OF THIS EVENT? I offer Robert a
drink of brandy then my wife mentions how I havent had a drink
for a year. It starts with this little argument between my wife and
I, which leads to us doing karate in the living room in front of

Robert. Then Sarah heads to bed, and Robert is about to leave


and asks me if I was ever sorry I got married.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO HAPPEN? I expected Sarah to be
respectful and not mention me not being able to drink, and
actually let me drink with our friend who is over for his birthday.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO HAPPEN? I want to have a drink with
Robert.
WHAT ACTUALLY OCCURS? She mentions that I was arrested for
being drunk, and that I havent drank in a year.

EXPERIENCING? We are in the living room, with a couches, tables,
and a coffee table. There are a lot of magazines covering the
coffee table. There is a bar in the living room with some alcohol
bottles. Behind us is the kitchen, and the front door to our
apartment building. To the left is the hallway to the bathroom, and
my bedroom. I am wearing my sweater vest, and dress pants.
HOW DOES THAT AFFECT YOUR THOUGHTS, YOUR FEELINGS,
YOUR WORDS AND YOUR ACTIONS? This makes me feel like the
little man as Sarah keeps making comments how she knows
things better than me in front of Robert. I am trying to make him
feel comfortable, but she keeps doing this.

takes place in the living room.

HOW DOES THAT AFFECT YOUR THOUGHTS, YOUR FEELINGS,
YOUR WORDS AND YOUR ACTIONS? This affects my thoughts
because I am tired, and have been dealing with my wife, Sarah,
all day. I feel very annoyed but I cant get angry as we have a
guest over at our house.
WHY?
WHY ARE YOU THERE YOUR REASONS AND NOT THE REASONS
OF OTHERS? I am here because this is my home and where I live. I
just finished dinner, and I want to relax with my friend, Robert. His

birthday is today, and I want to catch up with him and make him
feel at home.
