Due: January 21, 2014 at 3:00pm NW201
1. Find the area in CM of a circular wire with a diameter of 0.5cm.
2. A copper bar has length 2m, height 0.1m and width 0.1m. Find its resistance
between two a) square faces; b) rectangular faces. Assume the resistivity to be 1.72
x 10-8 -m.
3. A conductor has a resistance of 5 ohms and a length of 5000 cm. If it is drawn to
a length twice as the original, what is the new resistance of the conductor?
4. An aluminum conductor has a resistance of 10 ohms at 20oC. Find its resistance,
in three ways, at 85oC. (T0 = -236oC, 20 = 0.00391/oC, 0 = 0.0038/oC)
5. For the network below:
a) Find the total resistance RT
b) Find the source current Is and currents I2 and I3
c) Find current I5
d. Find voltages V2 and V4
