Energeticon

It was a rainy, bleak day and pretty coldso nothing dgood was about to take place, but that
wasnt really a problem because we were too busy talking to each other and having a nice time
together. After breakfast, we headed for the parking lot where the buses were waiting for us. We
went straight to Energeticon in Altsdorf.
I remember the heavy rain that fell when we arrived. It was heroic from us to get to the
main building from the buses. The distance was not even 500 m long, but it was long enough to
get us all soaked up. We had a great laugh about it when we got inside though .
We were separated in three large groups: the ones who spoke and understood only English,
the ones who spoke and understood English and German, and the ones that knew very good
German. After this, we split and began our tour of Energeticon. In order to avoid getting too
crowded, each group started the tour in different places.
Firstly, we visited a room where we could inform ourselves better about alternative energy.
It was great information, and also a lot of fun when we got to ride the bikes that somehow
measured the energy that humans use throughout the day. Then we went to the solar-system
room. There was a figure of the sun that got me really excited. We watched a short movie about
the making of planet Earth and headed to the mines. I was sooo hyped about it. Whoever did this
museum was a very creative person. We had the chance to discover the old way of mining and
the evolution of equipment, how the miners lived back then, and also interesting facts about
energy all around the world, how its used, the time by the fossil fuels will be gone and so much
more. I enjoyed it a lot, and was fascinated by the old machines miners used to get the coal out,
to dig the tunnels in the earth or even to carry it, by that I mean the old steam trains. And also the
combination of old and new that gave the museum a really nice touch was eye-catching to me.
All in all, the visit of Energeticon on Thursday was something that got me really excited and
I hope that I would visit it again someday. The experience also gave me a nice idea of what my
physics project will be about.
