Bradbury Date/Time: 050404 ‘SYNOPSIS: On 033104, as part of the Attomey General's Task Force, I was asked to locate potential victim of a sexual assault, ‘was contacted and interviewed on 040804 athe ‘Boulder Police Department. The assault took place somewhere in the City/County of Boulder, State ‘of Colorado. The second victim in this case, , declined to be interviewed. The suspect was identified as previous University of Colorado assistant football coach, Vance Joseph. ‘Neither victim is interested in pursuing criminal charges. This case is exceptionally cleared. NARRATIVE: Narrative: On 033104, Boulder Police Detective Set. K. Yamaguchi asked me to attempt to locate a possible victim of a sexual assault. He provided me with the name of located in the City/County of Boulder, State of Colorado. Sgt. Yamaguchi said he'd received the information that might be a victim from someone at the University of Colorado. ‘On 033104 I attempted to contact at the address provided above. There was no answer when I rang the buzzer for that apartment. On 040104 I retumed again to locate and was able to enter the secure building, When I reached apartment number the door was slightly ajar. No one answered my knock but I saw a woman walking down the hall toward me. I asked her if'she lived in the apartment and she told me that she was visiting her daughter. 1 identified myself and asked her if lived in the apartment. She told me that did live there but was not athome. 1 asked her if she would pass my business card along to and ask her to give me a call. She told me she would. (On 040604 called me, I explained to her the reason for my wanting to speak with her and she agreed to meet me at the Boulder Police Department on 040804 at 1600 hours to be interviewed. She told me that she and a friend had been talking with someone from the University of Colorado about an incident that occurred approximately a year earlier involving one of the football coaches, She said she did not want to pursue criminal charges but would talk to me about what happened. On 040804. _ arrived at approximately 1630 hours and we met in interview room one located within the detective division. Present for the interview were myself and Detective Tim Delaria with CU PD. Following is a synopsis of our interview with ‘graduated from the University of Colorado in While attending CU beginning in the fall of 2002 and worked at Dal Ward. Approximately one year ago, could not remember the exact time, she and a friend ‘went out together. The friend’s name is -were at the Foundry located in downtown Boulder when they saw “VJ,” Vance Joseph. VJ was one of the assistant football coaches at CU. said she and knew VJ and they had been social with him, as part of a group, in the past. Neither nor _—_everdated VJ. VJ bought them a couple of drinks at the Foundry and then invited VJ back to her place for more drinks. All three of them went back to house. ‘When they arrived at house, VJ and smoked some pot. _=has a roommate who was gone for the evening so decided to stay at » for the evening. She told us that the next thing she knew VJ was in the room, took all his clothes off and climbed into bed with her. said that VJ began touching her all over with his hands and rubbed his body against her. She told us that she felt his penis against the backside of her body and that it was hard. VJ continued grabbing her breasts and rubbing up and down her leg for a short period of time. pretended to ‘be passed out and did not respond to what VJ was doing. She said that VJ eventually stopped, got out of the bed and left the bedroom. She said that he did not penetrate her at all during this incident. said that she did not get out of bed or check to see if VJ left the house after he left her bedroom, The following morning she talked with and found out that after VJ left her bedroom he went into told that VJhad done the same things toher. told. that she told VJ to “get the hell out” and he left. told us that none of them ever discussed what had happened and that they would say hello to each other but never socialized again. said that even though VJ had been drinking. and had some marijuana, he knew exactly what he was doing. said, “He's just a sleaze ball.” told us that she thinks that what VJ did is ‘wrong but felt like she was fine and could handle it herself. She thinks he should lose his job for ‘what he did and is happy with the outcome of the sexual harassment investigation being conducted by cu. said that she and. are not the only women that VJ was getting in trouble for. She is not interested in pursuing criminal charges. After going over the sexual assault with _she agreed to talk to us about her experiences and the general environment in the athletic department. She said that they are given a handbook that outlines how they are to behave. Specifically it states that they are not to date the players that work out in the facility their assigned to. She said the players are not given such a ‘guideline.
