This article provides a glimpse on the film criticism movement through discussing opposing
groups of film critics as well as their beliefs and styles in film criticism. The author then gives
the reader a view on how writers criticize films based on their own ideologies and biases.

Criticism, 40(1), 1-2
This article discusses the necessity of including ideology in film criticism in the digital period. It
argues that the critique of ideology must be tied with film criticism. In so doing, it draws the line
between ideological analysis of cinema and the cinematic critique of ideology.

Porton, R. (2013). Film criticism: The next generation. Cineaste, 38(2), 35-40
This article collates interviews of various film critics about their views on film criticism.
Answering five same questions, the interviewees were able to provide a personal insight on why
and how they practice film criticism. Their answers were able to give the readers an idea on the
current and future trends of film criticism.
