Todays Learning Target: I will read, gather, and evaluate ideas on

feedback so that I can consider how I give feedback in my own classroom.

Our Process:
1. Writing to Think:
a. What feedback (either oral or written) have you received on something you
did, and how did it make you feel? Was it helpful? Did you use it or not,
and why?
b. What are different types/forms of feedback, and what do you prefer to
receive?
c. How do you use feedback in your classroom? When have you experienced
success? When have you not?
2. Turn and Talk--share your answers--what do you notice about your
partners responses in comparison to your own?
3. Introduction of our source, How to Give Effective Feedback by Susan M.
Brookhart and why I decided to work on changing my feedback methods for
students (CWP 2006).
4. Chalk Talk activity. Use your two-column notes handout as you read the
various quotes from Brookharts book to gather information that resonates
with you or pushes your thinking.
5. Discussion time: clock/appointment times--choose four quotes you wrote
down/reflected on, and designate them as 12, 3, 6, and 9. Find partners to
discuss/share with.
6. As a group: what connections, comments, or questions would you like to
share out?
7. Demonstration of how Ive chosen to implement some of these ideas into
my practice:
a. Google Drive comments on rough drafts and practice assignments
b. Use of rubrics for student self-evaluation
c. Student goal-setting
