Dear Parents/Guardians of students in Grade 2,

On Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 both Grade 2 classes will be going on an all-day field trip to Telus
Spark. We will participate in a program called Junior Architects where students will have the
opportunity to use materials to create a nearly life-size structure they would want in their
community. This work connects with units of study that we are conducting in Science and
Social Studies curriculum areas. Students will also have an opportunity to explore the
science center in small groups.
Since the classes will be there all day please be sure to include a snack, drink and lunch for
the day.
We will depart Altadore School at 9:00 am and travel to Telus Spark by chartered bus. We
will eat lunch at the facility, and plan to depart Telus at 2:30 pm for arrival at school for
regular dismissal time.
We will require four parent volunteers for each class. If you are able to volunteer for this day,
please email your childs teacher by Thurs. Feb 2 to Mrs. DeMarco at dcdemarco@ce.ab.ca,
or Ms Millar at abmillar@cbe.ab.ca. All volunteers require current volunteer registration and
police security clearances on file with the school.
All acknowledgment of risk and medical forms must be completed, signed and submitted to
school by Thurs. Feb. 2, 2016. Please ensure that you have filled out and signed the entire
form. Please note: a limited number of paper copies will be available in the office for families
without access to a printer.
Thanks to our parent council and their fundraising efforts all fees associated with this trip are
being paid through the direct donation campaign. If you have any questions regarding this
experience, please contact your childs teacher.
