TRACK DAY HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO NEXT WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER

We still have several students who need to fill out the field trip permission form. Parents need to
get onto a computer or laptop and go to the Natrona County School District website and go into
the parent portal. If you need assistance with this, please come into the school and we would be
happy to help you.

classroom! We could not do what we do without your support for learning at Verda

We assessed our first set of sight words: 54 out of 71 students knew 5 of the 6 words
KEEP PRACTICING THE OLD AND THE NEW WORDS
The next sight word assessment will be on Friday, October 21.
We assessed correct formation and sequence of the numbers 0-5: 36/71
66/71 students earned their behavior recognition for the month of September.
Please help your child to remember to use the 4Bes and the 8 Keys in all they do.
28/71 students returned their September Reading Calendar.
These can still be returned to your childs teacher. KEEP READING EVERY DAY!

FIRE SAFETY MONTH

October is Fire Safety month. If any Moms or Dads are affiliated with a fire station and
would like to help us learn more about fire safety and/or bring a fire truck to school for us
to tour we are certain the children would love it! Let your childs teacher know if you are
able to help out with this.
A.L.I.C.E.
Our first introduction to the A.L.I.C.E. training was successful. The big ideas that
students should remember from this brief training is that if the danger is inside the
building they need to get out and if the danger is outside the building they need to get
in. Our rally point, should we need to evacuate the school premises, is Eastridge Mall.
Also, children need to remember to ALWAYS listen to their teacher for specific
directions. Please talk to your child about this training and feel free to contact the school
if you have any questions.
News from the Nurse

Weve had lots of children needing to change their clothes for various reasons at school.
The nurse has asked us to have you pack a spare outfit in your childs backpack so that
we have it just in case of an emergency. This would include: shirt, pants, underwear and
socks.
Can You Help?
Our Book Fair is coming November 7-11 and WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS to run cash
registers and help on the floor. If you can volunteer time before school, during lunch
recesses, or after school, please stop by our library to sign up for a time! Your support
helps provide books and resources for all the students at Verda James :)
Casper Mountain Science School Field Trip
The Kindergarten students at Verda James have been lucky enough to secure 2 days in
November for us to attend Casper Mountain Science School. Well be sending home
more information regarding this in the upcoming weeks. In the folder this week is a pink
half sheet lunch order form for those students who would like to have a school sack lunch
on this day. If you plan to pack a lunch for your child there is no need to send this note
back. We are also in need of several parent volunteers please contact your childs
teacher if you are interested. Please note that only students are allowed to ride the bus
so you will need to provide your own transportation to the mountain. More specific
information will be coming soon.
