Welcome! Your time visiting/volunteering is appreciated and is important to the students and staff of Verda James Elementary School. We are pleased to have you complete this agreement. It is our belief that this agreement helps to establish respect and support that all of our visitors/volunteers deserve, as well as to build the kind of professional atmosphere that is important in a school setting. As a visitor to our school, please read and sign this agreement so you will clearly understand the expectations of Verda James. Our belief is that our school is built on kindness and respect. As a childs first teacher, a parent/volunteer has tremendous impact and influence in shaping the childs academic performance and behavioral conduct. We expect all parents, guardians and volunteers at our school to model appropriate behavior and to be good examples for our school community. The Verda James Community operates under the belief of our Four Bes: Your assistance and cooperation in supporting our beliefs is greatly appreciated. As a volunteer, I agree to sign in at the Main Office and obtain a visitors tag. This is for safety purposes and will enable staff and students to identify me as a school volunteer. This tag should be in plain sight for easy identification. I understand that volunteers have the full welcoming support of the Verda James staff. The children have been instructed to treat me with respect and address me professionally such as Ms, Mrs. or Mr. Smith, for example. In the event of disciplinary action, I agree to speak with the childs teacher to explain the behavior issue and follow the procedures that are set in the classroom and school. I agree that the confidentiality of the children and staff must be absolutely upheld. Under no circumstances should the personal issues of children and staff members be discussed with anyone except the appropriate staff members in a proper setting. I agree to follow the rules and expectations for the area in which I am visiting. I have received a copy of the Verda James School handbook and have reviewed it to familiarize myself with the policies and procedures of Verda James Elementary School. As a volunteer, I am here because I care about the children of this school and want to help in the educational capacity I have chosen. As a volunteer, I will be respectful to the staff, students, and other members of the school
