TEACHER INTRODUCTION LETTER TO PARENTS

Dear Parents, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

My name is Yareli Guerra and as a new teacher of East Grand
Preparatory, I am very excited to be given the opportunity to work with
such a key year group, about whom I have heard great things. I look
forward to getting to know your children over the coming weeks and to
helping your son or daughter to achieve even greater things. To give
you some brief information about myself, I graduated from the
University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley with a bachelor degree in
Psychology and a minor in Sociology. I have worked as a substitute
teacher for IDEA Public Schools in the Rio Grande Valley. Apart from
that, I am always on a quest to meet new people and learn about their
language and culture.

The year ahead will be probably the most important of your son or
daughter’s academic year so far, and I see my role as supporting them
at this crucial time to achieve of their very best, in close collaboration
with my second-grade team and with you as parents. There are some
important pieces of information that I would like to share with you and
I kindly ask you and your son/daughter to read through these.
Classroom procedures:
1. Entering the classroom: enter quietly and politely, take your seat,
begin the do now.
2. Asking for help: ask 3 before me, raise your hand and wait for
assistance.
3. When you are finished: review your work and draw an “I’m done”
stick.

Homework
A formal homework timetable for your son/daughter will be distributed
on Monday morning and turn it in each Friday. We ask that you support
your child, by regularly checking and signing their student planner. Also,
two assignments per week will be graded from 0-100. When the
student is absent, he/she will be giving a make-up assignment the
following day.

If you would like to meet me to discuss your child’s performance or any

other problems that he/she is facing in class, you can feel free to meet
me during lunch break hours, between 10:00am-11:00am. It will be
appreciated if you tell me a day before to fix the meeting. Apart from
this, you can also e-mail me at ms-guerra@gmail.com to discuss any
concern you have about your child.

Thank you,
Sincerely

Ms.Guerra
