    Work problem #1-1 (FE problems) from page 23 of the textbook.

    3.

    Estimate the following for a treatment plant from a community of 12,000:


    (a) average hourly wastewater flow rate
    (b) peak hourly wastewater flow rate, and
    (c) influent BOD5 mass loading (lb/day).
    Assume that the peak hourly flow rate is determined using historical peak flow
    measurements, which are 3.2 times the average flow rate. Assume an average per
    capita wastewater flow rate of 100 gal/capita-day and a typical BOD 5 loading of 0.21
    lb/capita-day.
