Assignment: Write a fictional narrative to imitate the writing style of Gary Soto in The Jacket. Your
story must include a memorable piece of clothing. This is more than just describing the clothing, but
creating a story around it. The story can be realistic fiction (blend of fact and fiction, so it doesnt ALL
have to be true- you can embellish the details) and should be convincing. Students should have
multiple uses of figurative language and sensory details (sight, sound, touch, taste). Story should be
two (2) pages long at a minimum and have a clear beginning, middle, and an end.
