OVERVIEW:
We will study the recruitment procedures and steps
involved in it of BANK AL-FALAH & BANK AL-HABIB and
compare both of these procedures. Later on we will conclude the
report on the basis of facts and figures.

RECRUITMENT:
A good recruitment program should attract the
qualified and discourage non-qualified candidates. Meeting this
dual objective will minimize the cost of processing unqualified
candidates.

INTRODUCTION:
(BANK AL-FALAH)
Bank Alfalah Limited (“BAL”) is a private bank in Pakistan owned by the Abu
Dhabi Group. Bank Alfalah was incorporated on June 21, 1997 as a public limited
company under the Companies Ordinance 1984. Bank Alfalah is registered at
Karachi Lahore and Islamabad Stock Exchange with a ticker name of “BAFL”. Its
banking operations commenced from November 1, 1997. The bank is engaged in
commercial banking and related services as defined in the Banking companies
ordinance, 1962, with the registered office at B.A.Building, I.I.Chundrigar Road,
Karachi.
Since its inception, as the new identity of H.C.E.B (Habit Credit and Exchange
Bank Limited) after the privatization in 1997, the management of the bank started
implementing strategies and policies to carve a distinct position for the bank in the
market place.
This was further strengthened with a partnership with the Abu Dhabi Group which
owns 70% of Bank Alfalah shares. This allowed the bank to invest more in
revolutionary technology to increase its range of products and services, perceiving
the requirements of their customers and matching them with quality products and
service solutions.

customer experience, deliver quality services that contributes to

INTRODUCTION:
(BANK AL-HABIB)

Bank Al-Habib Limited was incorporated as a Public Limited


Company in October 1991 and it started banking operations in 1992.
Bank Al-Habib is owned by the the Dawood Habib Family
group of companies. Bank Al-Habib is among the fastest growing banks
of Pakistan. In the annual review of Forbes Asia 2005, Bank Al-
Habib was listed among the top 200 Best Under A billion companies.
The head office of Bank Al-Habib lies in Multan, Punjab but the
principal office is working in Karachi. There are more than 200 branches
of Bank Al Habib all over Pakistan. Habib group is the oldest group that
introduced banking in Pakistan. Habib group established Habib Bank
that was nationalized in the year 1971 but later on it acquired the status
of semi-government bank. Habib group was the pioneer group that
launched private bank in Pakistan that is Bank Al Habib.

products and services while contributing towards the National
economic and social development.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
(BANK AL-FALAH)
There are certain procedures involved in recruiting a
graduate.

The first step is when graduates apply for the vacancy; they are
called for the interviews, which are conducted at the head
office/Regional Office. A committee is made by the head office for
interviewing the candidates; the personality, extracurricular
activities and a general idea about the candidate’s competence
are evaluated.
After short listening a few candidates are called for final interview
in the presence of chief manager administration.
The committee interviews the candidate focusing on general
knowledge, subjective knowledge, analytical knowledge, and the
way of preference and choice. Committee enlists the candidates
who are up to the required standard.
Then there is a provision of services training of 3 months where
they are rotated on all the seats to get acquainted
Appointment letters are then sent those selected have to present
themselves before the head office for signing the board
agreement.
The candidate’s area sent for six months pre-service training
to the training centre. Then they are posted top the base station
where the report to the branch manager.

Batch Trainee
All employees selected through this process, have to first complete
a probation period before given a complete status of a Bank Al-falah
employee. The major benefit of this procedure is that Bank Al-falah can
employee a large number of employees at a lower cost.

Direct Induction of Fresh Candidates


Through direct induction of fresh candidates, Bank Al-falah is able
to employ fresh postgraduate candidates for its organization through;

Experienced Professionals
Based on requirements of experienced staff, Bank Al-falah
also recruits talent from the marketplace. Bank Al-falah offers
competitive salary / benefits to worthy professionals at all levels who
wish to join hands with Bank Al-falah. The procedure for selecting such

FOR FRESH CANDIDATES:
The procedure of recruiting fresh candidates is
as follows;

 Collecting cv`s
 Sorting them according to requirement
 Calling for a written test of selected candidates
 First interview
 Final interview
 Probationary job offer
 Permanent job offer after successful probation

FOR EXPERIENCED CANDIDATES:


Experienced candidates are normally selected
from present employees ,however sometimes they call up from
other sources, the procedure is as follows;

 Collecting cv`s
 Sorting them according to requirement
 First interview
 Final interview
 Probationary job offer (only for new employees in bank,
not for existing)
 Permanent job offer after successful probation
ADVERTISEMENT:

BANK AL-HABIB normally do not use advertisements in
newspaper or any other source, however it use internet source
occasionally. Applications from different sources like employees
collected by HR Department time to time. These applications are
processed as per requirement.

CONCLUSION:
The recruitment process of BANK AL-FALAH is more
systematic than that of BANK AL-HABIB as we can see following
differences;

 Collection of application for job is better of BANK AL-FALAH as


compared to BANK AL-HABIB.
 Filling of a job is better in BANK AL-FALAH as it is considered
in both existing and non-existing candidates
 More steps are being used for selecting and hiring employees in
BANK AL-FALAH.
