Case study production team

As part of a four-person production team, you have been assigned the role of script-writer for a short (20
second) sponsorship announcement that will be broadcast on a national radio station. The other three
members of the team are assigned to produce the announcement (actress for voice, sound engineer for
recording and production manager). As your role is to write the script, you will not need to be physically
present for any of the team meetings, or the recording. The sponsorship announcement is for local tour
company who will be running a new bicycle tour in and around Uluru, Australia. The client would like to
incorporate the name Ayers Rock into the sponsorship announcement, stating it is better known to overseas
visitors by this title.

You have 3 weeks to complete your script and the production will take place at the recording studio 1 week
after your submission. You are required to write a sample idea, a draft script and then once approved a final
script which again needs to be approved by the production manager. You will need to collaborate with the
actress on the script and the sound engineer for the background music/sounds. You will have to spend time
researching the content.

The broadcast station follows the code of conduct of Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice

As you will be mostly be working independently you will need to prioritise your workload, take into
consideration the deadlines, work efficiently and collaboratively with your colleagues and make decisions
based on your own level of responsibility.
