LOCATION RECCE
LOCATION: Lord street park

LOCATION ADDRESS: Lord street, Cadishead

TYPE OF BUILDING/STRUCTURE/LANDSCAPE: A park with a lot of trees and field around

the area.

WHY IS THIS LOCATION SUITABLE FOR YOUR PROJECT?

I have picked this because the trees in the area which have no leafs on which signifies the winter
element which is the theme for the magazine. As the magazine is promoting winter fashion it
suitable to be outside as people like to know what is good and fashionable to wear in winter. Having
the model outside also relates to the cover line used for the model which is Wrap up warm.

ACCESS

TRANSPORT LINKS TO LOCATION PHYSICAL ACCESS TO SITE

The location is easily accessible by either bus To get in the park you have to walk through the
or walking so its easy for both model and space left in the railings.
back up model to reach in a short amount of
time. Longest it will take to get the location is
10 minutes for me and the model including
the back up model.

GENERAL INFORMATION
People who might be affected by recording in this location:
People who are passing by on the park as they may think theyre being filmed.
If football is happening on the field as the football could get to the camera or if rugby is
happening at the moment in time.

Other an than the area is closed off as you have to walk in the gate to access the area so if
someone is even passing on the pavement outside the park they wont be seen on the camera.

Precautions/measures taken to minimise the impact of your recording:

Making sure the camera is out of the way as possible for people who are passing by. Also, making
sure that we arent doing the photo shoot when the park is at its busiest time as a lot more risks will
happen if the park is crowded.

There isnt any power source at the park so this means we need to
Power sources available make sure that everything is fully charged and prepared before we
go out and do the shoot.
Near the park there is a park which we will be using to get dinner
and snacks for ourselves. As I am not paying the models for the
Catering
photo shoot I will pay for the models food as a thank you for
helping me do the photo shoot.
Toilets The closest toilets that people can use is two minutes away from

the park so if someone does need one then they can go before the
shoot but it is easy to go to a close home to go for one. However,
the equipment will have to packed away before we leave the site
to go toilet so hopefully everyone would have gone before the
photoshoot starts.
As there isnt a public telephone we will have to use our mobile
phones so we will make sure that theyre all fully charged so we
Telephones
can access people if we need help or need to get our back up
model ready.
Daylight times (if recording We will have to do recording times at the times 10-4 as thats the
outside) time when it isnt dark as in winter it starts to go dark a lot earlier.
999 as then we can access police, fire service, ambulance. This is
because they need to know in case someone rings up the police to

filming is taking place. If the ambulance service already knows the
address of the place, we are filming if anything happens they know
where to get to. This relates to the fire service as well as they will
be pre warned of the risks which could happen and the location.

Measurements of space used on location: (Use paces if necessary)

The location I will be using is around 30 paces as where the photos will be taken in on top of a hill
which is joined to the field which covers the whole location.

Describe any restrictions/hazards in the immediate vicinity:

As the location is on a higher ground than the rest of the field if it rains night before it could
be slippy on the grass which could be an issue getting the equipment up.
On the hill thats where all the trees are which means that some of the roots will be showing
on the ground which means people may fall over however we will try and avoid being too
close to the trees.

Where will the crew work on this location?

On the location the crew will be working south of the location as thats where there isnt many trees
near by which means there is enough space for the equipment to be set up and that way it is out of
the way of where the model will be working.

Where will the cast work on this location?

The model will be working in the rest of the location as I will be placing the model in certain areas to
see which lighting and when background is most suitable for the pictures.

TOP 3 RISKS IDENTIFIED ON LOCATION

(N.B. this does not replace the Risk Assessment form which must be carried out for any practical project)
Firstly, as the location is a public area one risk will be member of the public as they could either
damage the equipment either knocking it over while they are walking past. Maybe hitting the
equipment with a ball of any sort from either walking their dogs or while playing football.

The location is set around a lot of trees which means many of the roots are above on the surface
meaning that people could possibly trip over the roots which could result in an injury because
someone could hurt their body if they fall over onto the ground. To reduce this from happening we
will avoid being too close to where the roots are.

If the night or day of the shoot it has been raining means that the ground could be slippy this could

result in someone falling over. If the ground is slippy it will be more difficult to continue with the
photo shoot as it will be difficult to more around the location safely.

Describe the aesthetics of the location (e.g. Describe the potential camera shots or describe the
acoustic value of the location)

As the photos of the location was taken on a IPad means the quality of the pictures arent the same as when the
photos are taken on the camera.

When looking south of the location this is what you can see the whole location.
However, this does include the building behind the trees however when doing
the photo shoot I will position the camera so the building cannot be seen. Also,
when Im taking pictures of the model see will take up most of the frame. Facing
this way means you do not get any of the shadows from the trees of the model
as the trees will be away from where the sun will be shining.

This is looking east onto the location which means you can see the
houses from the street next to the park. This wouldnt be very good in
the back ground of the photo as it will take away the aesthetic of winter
away from the trees with no leaves on. Also, facing this way means you
can see a lot more shadows from the trees which will ruin the lighting to
the model.

This is taken while facing north onto the location. I will to be taking
pictures from this side because you can see fewer trees which will ruin
the winter theme we are creating for the magazine. Also, facing this why
means thats the way the sun is facing which means its a lot more shady
which means it will be more difficult to get good lighting of the model.
Facing this way also means that other buildings can be seen more which
couldnt look good for photo as it would take the winter wonderland
aesthetic away from the photo.
