Network hardware are the devices needed for interaction between devices
on a network.

A file server is a device that controls stored files. There are file servers in
John Burke.

A workstation is a computer that humans use. There are around 30

workstation in the lab.

A network interface card provides the physical connection between a

network and a computer.

An ethernet switch provides a central connection point for cables from

computers and servers. A switch costs around 50 dollars.

Routers are devices that forwards data packets to a network, one router
can cost up to 200 dollars. We do need a router in our network.

The 5 categories of Unshielded Twisted Pair cable are; Voice Only,

LocalTalk, 10BaseT ethernet, Token ring, and Gigabit ethernet. We use
Gigabit ethernet in the lab.

The 6 simple rules are; use more cable than needed, test every part as you
install it, stay at least 3 feet away from source of interference, label both
ends of each cable, and use cable ties to secure cable.

I estimate that we will need around 70 feet of cable in our lab.
