Weather instruments and how to use them.

Barometer
The barometer measures air pressure.

The two types of air pressure are high or happy weather and low or lousy
weather. This weather instrument helps predict storms.
Anemometer
The anemometer measures the wind speed.

On land the air is measured by miles per hour. On a boat on water it measures in
knots. This weather instrument helps measure the wind like tornado and/or
hurricane winds.
Wind vane
The wind vane shows the wind direction.

When it spins it can point north, south, east, and west.

This weather instrument helps find out where hurricanes and/or tornadoes are
coming from.
Rain gauge
The rain gauge collects rain.

It measures in inches.

This weather instrument helps see how much it has rained over night
Hygrometer
The hygrometer measures the humidity in the air.

When there is 100% humidity in the air it will rain!

This weather instrument helps check if it will rain or if it will be sunny!

Thermometer
The thermometer measures the temperature.

It measures how hot it is and how cold it is.

We measure in fahrenheit but other countries measure in celsius.
