Counseling and Planning Education. I have served on the editorial board of this journal
since 2008, and have assisted the editor with increasing the journal’s accessibility since
then. This article includes a section on our efforts to include the journal in more national

since 2008, and have assisted the editor with increasing the journal’s accessibility since
then. This article describes our efforts to ensure the journal’s open access state and its
visibility in indexes of national significance.
Footnotes is the official, quarterly newsletter of the American Library Association’s New
Members Round Table. This article details the history and future goals of the Louisiana
Library Association’s reinstated New Members Round Table, a group that I and my co-
chair reinvigorated in 2009.

Planning) to increase the journal’s visibility and sphere of influence.

This work was published as a non-peer reviewed essay in the peer-reviewed journal
Library Student Journal, a publication from the University of Buffalo. Since 2006, this
journal has gained recognition among LIS graduate students and faculty members,
publishing scholarship from the rising stars of the library world.
