Integrated Disease Surveillance Pro-

gramme (IDSP)
Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) was launched by Ministry of Health & Family Wel-
fare in November 2004 assisted by the World Bank.

1. The Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) is a disease surveillance scheme.


2. The scheme aims to strengthen disease surveillance for Epidemic Prone Infectious Dis-
eases to detect and prevent outbreak quickly.
3. The IDSP was initiated by the World Bank in November 2004.
4. The Programme continues during 12th Plan (201217) under National Health Mission
(NHM).
5. The World Bank funds were utilized to set up the Central Surveillance Unit(CSU) at National
Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in New Delhi.
