COMMUNITY CENTRE

The Project is a re-design of an existing community centre at the IITM.

The brief is to have a 240 capacity of community hall (wedding hall) with
its 80 capacity dinning space, an added requirement of 80 seating multi
purpose hall, fitness centre and an engineering maintenance office in the
proposed structure.

The Design builds on an existing footprint and subsequent grid was

formed. The resultant design is two intersected simple rectangle, fused
to create an interesting massing, clearly defining the spaces that are
enclosed yet opens out to its beautiful lush greenery. The Dynamic
entrance portico with its surrounding water body seems to be inviting the
guests in their happiest occasions.

A defined functional interior space oriented east west, clearly brings in

north-south light and ventilation to the main hall, a musical niche at the
right corner of the stage adds harmony without disturbing the stage
proceedings.

The overall intent is to have a space consistent with the evolving lifestyle
of the campus an adaptive space that is open, secure yet connected to
the 6000 odd families of the campus.
