Jose Rizal: The best the Filipino could be

I. Summary

The article Jose Rizal: The best the Filipino could be by Conrado
de Quiros talked about Jose Rizal as our national hero. It also it stated
some evidences that prove him deserving to be one.

II. Highlights

Jose Rizal was indeed a person of nobility. He fought a great fight.

His entire masterpiece like Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are
great contribution to our freedom today. He was an extraordinary indio
because he was better than his fellow Spaniard by all that he did through
his writings, treating the sick, and many others. Also, he was a
revolutionary one, because through his works, the Filipinos were
awakened and empowered.

III. Reaction

The article speaks for Jose Rizal as a whole, but it also gives
contrast to the former from Andres Bonifacio. In my college years, I really
questioned the legitimacy of Jose Rizal as our national hero and think that
there should be two national heroes but its not applicable. So, when I
read this article, I began to have answers. All the words written in this
article have change the way I think of our national hero. I began to
conclude that Jose Rizal was suited as our national hero because for a
many reasons. But the best reason, for me, Jose Rizal is our national hero
for the reason he died for the love of his country, our country, the
Philippines.
