dependence of organisms on their habitat.

marsh/swamp, coast, Piedmont, Atlantic Ocean) and the organisms
that live there.

Description and Teacher Directions:


Students will create a commercial using Imovie that will attract visitors to
explore Georgias geographical regions. Upon completion of the unit,
students will be assessed on their knowledge of Georgia regions. The
teacher will announce, Congratulations! You have just been selected by
the Georgia Department of Tourism to produce a commercial that will
attract schools from across the United States to take a field trip to our state.
In your commercial you must include information about each of the habitats
that we have studied, as well as information and pictures of the living
things, both plants and animals, they might see in each habitat.

Differentiated Instruction (Readiness, Learning Profile, and Student
Interests)
Students will take a pretest on Georgia regions and habitats at the
beginning of the unit. Results from pretest will be used to group students
based on their readiness levels. Throughout the unit, there will
opportunities to tailor instruction to students visual, auditory, and kinetic
needs. Graphics and songs are included throughout the unit to meet
students visual and musical preferences.

In addition to the components listed above, describe the following:
Setting -- The instruction and assessment will be presented in a general
education third grade classroom for two rotations.
Learners--Both rotations have students of White. African-American,
Hispanic, and mixed races. Students have varied instructional needs:
gifted, specific learning disabilities, and average learners. Students
learning styles and interests include visual, tactile/kinesthetic, and auditory.
A preferred learning styles inventory indicated the majority of the students
preferred music and visuals to accompany instruction.
