The Tanners Point Residents and Ratepayers Association Inc

February 2017 Newsletter

Annual General Meeting

The AGM this year is to be held at 4.30pm on Sunday 12 March 2017, in the boat ramp
reserve by the petanque court.

The Executive Committee consists of 8 elected members plus co-opted members. Elected
members have a two year term of office with four members retiring at every AGM. This year
the following committee members are due to retire: Robert Cameron, Dianne Lowry, Henk
Hoogland and Heather Wills. Of these Henk resigned in November due to relocation from
Tanners Point and Dianne is not available for renomination. Re-nominations have been
received for Rob and Heather and also a nomination for Mike Howell who was co-opted to
the committee last year.

It is always good to have new people coming on to the committee which undertakes a variety
of activities. These include liaising with the Western Bay of Plenty District Council and the
Regional Bay of Plenty Council on community matters, welcoming new residents, organizing
social events and maintaining our community response plan. So please consider making
yourself available. Nominations can be delivered in writing to committee members ahead of
the AGM using nomination form below, or put forward at the AGM. Nominee, nominator and
seconder need to be financial members.

Note that membership of the association costs $5.00 per household, and could be paid to the
treasurer at the AGM.

Pest Free & Walkway Update

On Auckland Anniversary weekend the MG club was hosted at a BBQ meal on the reserve at
Moana Drive. This was a fund raising event organised to provide funds for the walkway
development. The event was successful despite being a few guests short, and raised over
$430. Many thanks to the volunteers who assisted with the food, cooking and waiting. This
was a great example of the community pulling together. The MG club was effusive in their
praise of the event and the setting.

A new curved picnic table has been constructed and installed at the end of the west side
walkway. Thanks to Graham Taylor and Bernie Wills who designed and built the table taking
over 50 hours of effort. And thanks to the cheerful team who turned out to transport and
install the parts at the end of the walkway. Worth a walk to view the new table take a picnic.
