Radiographyc pattern between lung mass and mediastinal mass

The following characteristic indicate that a lesion originates within the mediastinum :
1. Unlike lung lesions, a mediastinal mass will not contain air bronchograms
2. The margins with the lung will be obtuse
3. Mediastinal line (azygoesophageal recess, anterior and posterior junction line)
will be disrupted
4. There can be associated spinal, costal or sternal abnormalities
A lung mass abutts the mediastinal surace and creates acute angles with the lung,
while a mediastinal mass will sit under the surface creating obtuse angles with the
lung.

A lung mass abutts the A mediastinal mass will sit under the
mediastinal surface and creates surface of the mediastinum, creating
acutes angle with the lung obtuse angles with the lung

Example :

There is a lesion that has an acute There is a lesion with an obtuse

angle border with the mediastinum angle to the mediastinum (This must
(This must be lung mass) be a mediastinal mass)
