About the College

Jamal Mohamed College, a Government Aided First Grade College founded in 1951,
as an Autonomous Institution affiliated to the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. The
college is administered by the Society of Jamal Mohamed College, is established in a
sprawling land area of 87 acres, as a religious minority institution, with the primary objective
of providing higher education to downtrodden and socially backward sections of the society
in general and Muslim Minority in particular.

The institution garnered renown and recognition, being bestowed with autonomy in
2004-2005, Re-accredited (3rd Cycle) with A Grade by NAAC in 2016 and has been
identified as the College with Potential for Excellence by the UGC.

The college offers 21 UG, 21 PG and 6PG Diploma courses and has research facilities
in 15 Departments. The college has student strength of 10,898. The teaching faculty consists
of 135 regular staff and 310 management staff.

The institution is dedicated to the cause of Higher Education and has produced many
Administrators, Academicians, Scientists, Social Workers, Intellectuals, Computer
Professionals and Eminent personalities in different walks of life. The college as a
trailblazing pioneer in the field of Higher Education has weathered the vicissitudes of time,
constantly chiseling young minds towards intellectual, social and financial mobility in tune
with the ground reality.

Department of Business Administration

In 1999, in addition to aided section the management of the college started exclusive
women sections in Business Administration in the year 2000-2001 under self-financing
stream. Due to the growing needs, the management introduced additional self finance UG
men sections in Business Administration in the year 2005-2006. At present, the Department
of Business Administration has 12sections with strength of 713men students and 3sections
with strength of 174 women students. To ensure high quality in education, the department has
adequate number of qualified staff. Presently the department has a total strength of 18 men
and 4 women staff.
