(What Happened?)
At 7:15 am, substitute teacher Ibu led the
devotion by telling bible story.
Students were asking her question about
the story.
After devotion, my cooperating teacher
English class. They had English spelling
test and Vocabulary/Comprehension test.
I assisted my cooperating teacher while
they had English test.
After English test they had snake break.
Every Friday we have two periods of
English between there is snake break like
we have two periods of math class every
Thursday.
Students did writing (research pieces for
paper). My cooperating teacher came up
with a great activity so that students will
not get bored of writing an essay.
The activity is while the teacher is playing
a song, students have to bring their paper
and walk around the classroom. When
teacher pause the song, students will pair
up with the one whos near and check
others paper. First, they checked each
other for the capital letter in the
beginning of the sentence. Then they have
to find another partner like before to
check their spelling and grammar. And
students have a chance to pick their
favorite song to play.

Reflections & Critical Response

I saw students love story. Especially
telling a story in devotion section is
really effective for this age. They are
really keen to hear what happened
next, and they got a lot of question.
In my opinion, Third graders are still
young enough to tell great stories that
can change the way they think, their
attitudes and their behavior.
I like the way Ibu did her devotion. And
If I were her, I want to make really
effective. For example, student was
about say bad words but student
suddenly remembered the story that
teacher told, as a result that student
chose not to say a bad words.
And I learned the fun activity from my
cooperating teacher in English class.
There are 3 benefits with this one
activity. Frist, students do not get bored
but active in the class. Second, students
learn from each other by checking
others paper. Third, students learn how
to interact with others.
