Animal Farm Expository Essay #2

In the novella, Animal Farm, by George Orwell the author uses allegory to discuss ideas such as

corruption and power. In the book the pigs take over the manor farm. The lead pigs name is

napoleon while the original owner of the farm is named Mr. Jones. Neither are good leaders but

most people say that the animals were worse off under napoleons rule then under Mr. Jones rule.

I believe this is true and I will tell you why.

Lets start with Mr. Jones rein. During Mr. Jones rule the animals were nowhere close to happy.

On page 22. Benjamin the old donkey says life would go on as it had always gone on that is,

badly. So no their lives werent great but they were always fed. On page 16. One animal say

Mr. Jones feed us. If he were gone, we should starve to death. This means that jones did keep

them fed. Animals were killed during Mr. Jones rule but they were only killed in the pursuit of a

profit. Now lets look at napoleons rule.
