Dear Recruiter:

I am currently finishing my senior year at the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Nursing and I am applying for the Nurse Residency Program. It was from the feedback of family
members who have been on campus that emphasized the staffs phenomenal team approach to patient
care giving that initially sparked my interest with Mayo Clinic. This was solidified during my
experience in the Student Nurse Extern Summer Program at Mayo Clinic Hospital Phoenix, furthering
my passion for nursing and my excitement to continue to grow within Mayo Clinic. The attached
resume, application, and letters of recommendation shows by example my experiences, both on and off
campus with safety, leadership, education and my moral character.
To further my practical experience, I applied to the Student Nurse Extern Summer Programs and was
selected to be a member of the 3W Intermediate/Transplant team as a student nurse extern at Mayo
Clinic Hospital Phoenix. It provided me the opportunity to see first-hand how the needs of the patient
come first. I enjoyed investigating the complex and unique needs of the patients, in order to provide
holistic care individualized for them. Under the guidance of my preceptor, I became confident in vital
nursing skills. By the end of the summer, I was able to manage the patient load by performing thorough
assessments, detailed documentation, and provide compassionate nursing care to every patient.
My goal is to work with and be certified in high acuity emergency or critical care patients with
aspirations of becoming a flight nurse with Mayo One. I am aware that the path to get there will involve
a wide variety of experiences and opportunities that will broaden my skill sets and knowledge. As long
as I am able to provide the best care for my patients, I am accomplishing the reason of why I wanted to
become a nurse in the first place, to make a positive impact on others through first-rate care to promote
healing.
With my passion in nursing and striving for excellence through new experiences combined with my
foundation of skills, I am confident I can be a contributing member of the Mayo Clinic team. I am
always striving for my goals and am excited to be in a place where it can flourish. Thank you for your
time and considerations, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Kimberly
