Planning for Refilming Sequence

Intial ideas:
Scene from perspective of girl- depict fear and allow more representation for her
character.
Scene of his sister- potential funeral/ link to sisters death.
A shrine sequence- adds suspense. More opportunities to include titles.

Considering the problems we face with being able to have the same actors involved since
they were unavailable, the shrine sequence seems to be the best scene idea as we can use
a different actor as their face will not be shown and it can fit in more titles. Shrines also
connote the idea of obsession as well as even suggesting that the antagonist thinks of the
girl as being his religion which continues to show how his life is dedicated to stalking her.
Furthermore, the shrine also continues to add a sense of mystery since we are continuing to
use the idea that was featured in my thriller research of Se7en and Dexter, that the
antagonist is given a lack of identity in order to make the audience feel less empathetic with
them as well as to build up suspense and intimidation. Also, in comparison to ideas like the
funeral, we have an availability of the location and props to achieve this and adding a new
scene with dialogue would give away the story and therefore, take away the suspense that
was created before. As well as this, the whole idea of the opening was to put the audience in
the main antagonists perspective so that, as the film develops, they could form a sense of
empathy for him; so focusing on the females perspective would lessen the effect of this.
Therefore, the shrine sequence is our best idea for ensuring that all the titles are included
within the opening.

Our Location
Our chosen location will be the living room featured within the sequence before as it links to
how stalking seems like a regular occurrence for him as well as a huge part of his life that he
is not ashamed of. Furthermore, this was the only location we could think of that had a shelf
that was suitable for the shrine idea as it
has enough space to fit props and it would
fit clearly within the narrative since the
audience would recognise this location and
associate it with his previous actions. Also,
this location can allow low-key lighting
through the closing of the curtains so it is
also able to achieve the somber
atmosphere we are aiming for. It is also
easily accessible which will allow us to go
there repeatedly if the filming is successful.
