2017 Porterville Spring Clean

Team Captain Information Sheet

Leadership Porterville and Habitat for Humanity of Tulare/Kings Counties would like to extend our thanks to you
and your team for participation in this clean up campaign. Your willingness to volunteer to improve our community
is greatly appreciated. In order for everything to go smoothly on Saturday, the following information is provided
and must be adhered to:

1. The Waiver and Authorization form must be completed by each participant, and, if under the age of 18,
must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. These forms must be turned into the team captain prior to the event
and NO ONE is allowed to participate if they have not submitted the completed form. All forms should be turned
into the personnel at the staging area by the end of the clean up event.

2. Work area assignments and maps will be distributed with these instructions, so that your team may be
notified where to meet Saturday morning. It is only necessary for you or a designated person from your team to
come to the staging area at the Heritage Center, 256 E. Orange Ave, to pick up supplies of bags, gloves, water,
etc. Personnel will be on hand beginning at 7:30 am.

3. Please bring tools such as hoes, rakes, brooms, weedeaters, etc to help you with the clean up.

4. The filled bags and other large trash items can be piled close to the road to be picked up by the
truck/trailer assigned to your area.

5. Safety is our number one priority, so please make sure to keep participants aware of their surroundings,
especially in relationship to traffic areas, keep participants hydrated, call 911 immediately if there is any
emergency. It is recommended that you carry a small First Aid Kit with you and there will be one available at the
staging area.

6. You can call the following numbers if you have finished your assigned area and still have time for
another assignment and also if you need to tell us specifically about the location of the piles you have collected for
pick up or have any other issue.

7. There will be restroom facilities open at the Heritage Center and if needed in the field, it is recommended
to have team members use gas stations or fast food restaurants that may be in the area. If you have to drive a
team member to a restroom, please make sure that you have a chaperone remaining with the underage team
members.

8. Remember lunch will be provided at the Heritage Center at noon. Each team is responsible for their own
transportation.

Bag Pick Up procedures

Captains from each team can contact the number assigned to your color for a pick up
after several bags of debris have been collected. Please let your pick up person the
location of where the bags are placed.
