BATTERY PROTECTION REPORT

Cells used: Shenzhen BAK C18650CC

Battery Pack Rating: 59.2V , 67.6Ah

The battery pack is divided into 16 modules each of rating 3.7V, 67.6Ah

(The 16 modules will be connected in series)

Each module consists of 26 cells in parallel.

For whole battery pack we are using Orion BMS module kit.

As per the above mentioned battery pack configuration:

Maximum Discharge Current Limit = 135.2 Amps for the battery pack.

Maximum Charge Current Limit = 67.6 Amps for the battery pack.

Maximum Charging Voltage = 67.2 volts

Maximum Discharging voltage = 42 volts

**The BMS module above has all these values adjustable according to the user
needs.

Block Diagram for Orion BMS Module

The working of the BMS is as follows:

As mentioned in the battery tech report, we have divided the battery pack into
16 modules connected in series. The whole battery pack is connected to the
Orion BMS module. It cuts off the load (isolating the sink) under over charge,
over discharge, over current, over temperature, short circuit. To exploit this, we
are using a relay connected between the Solar Array and the MPPT to isolate the
source when the BMS cuts off load.

Battery Box
Acrylic sheets are being used to make the battery box and we are also using 12V
rated DC exhaust fans for the ventilation system (fulfilling the 280L/min
requirement).

The battery box would be mounted on to the chassis.

The BMS boards would be encased within the box as per regulations.

The Battery box encloses the main battery pack, BMS module, Main Fuse (DC
rated) and 12V DC rated Ventilation fans.

How firmware or settings will be rendered static and un-


modifiable after inspection:
To lock the whole battery box firmware we are giving a provision of lock on the
battery box. All the ends of wires have been isolated with electrical tape to
protect the circuitry inside the box. The BMS modules has been mounted inside
the box and will remain stable to maintain its durability.
