Designing

Create your own scenario for a new reality-based TV show.

When coming up with ideas, you should keep these questions in

mind:

Where will your show take place?

What types of people will be on it?
What will your show be called?
During what time of day or night do you suggest this show to
be broadcast?
For how many days, weeks, or months should the show last?
What is the basic idea or storyline for your programme?
What makes this show different from those currently on TV?

The House / Setting

Where will the actual show be held?

What types of furniture / utensils etc will be in it?
Will there be an outside area?
Where will contestants sleep?
What colours are you going to use and why?
What overall look will you be going for?
Contestants

Now write a brief proposal for what you expect from your
contestants.

How many contestants will there be? Why?

What gender divide will there be? Why?
What cultural mix will there be? Why?
What age range will there be? Why?
What extra criteria do you want to have so that a number of
different groups are represented? For example, will you have
any gay people in there to show this demographic?

Extension activity - Decide on some of the contestants that

will be going into your show.

Now give a quick description and profile of some of the contestants

that you will have in your Reality TV show:
