Harris Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

My name is Kailee Harris and I have been given the opportunity to

work with your child this coming school year. I would like to start off by
saying welcome to my second grade classroom at Griffin Elementary. I am
beyond excited to work with you and your child this year and I would like to
let you know that I am always here if you ever have any questions or
concerns.
To understand me personally, I would love to inform you that I received
my education at Grand Valley State University where I studied elementary
education and mathematics. During my time at Grand Valley, I studied
abroad in Tanzania Africa (where I taught 2nd grade), I worked at a local
preschool, and I was also a member of the GVSU Laker dance team.
Based on my philosophy of education, I will spend time in my
classroom better preparing your child for his or her future. I will inspire your
child to become an individual leader in the classroom, in the school, and
lifelong endeavors. I will prepare engaging lessons and activates to help your
child strengthen their educational qualities. I will achieve this goal by having
your child practice organization skills, study habits, test taking skills, and
leadership roles. They will also be taught how to take responsibility of is or
her own work, respect others, and work as a team within our classroom.
As your child takes part in my classroom he or she can expect a very
positive environment. I foster a collaborative atmosphere where every voice
is heard and need is met. I use a variety of techniques within in my
instruction to make sure that every student is able to discover his or her own
unique way of learning. With my dance background, I also bring a great
amount of movement to daily activities, routines, and procedures in my
classroom. Through fun and exciting activities in my classroom my students
are engaged and inspired to love education.
Within my classroom I expect my students to participate in daily
routines and procedures. I will hold them accountable for completing their
schoolwork on time. I expect my students to respect me, their peers, and
other adults within the building as they listen to directions, use kind words,
and follow all school and classroom rules.
My curriculum is based off of growth, participation, and effort. As I
deliver high-quality instruction I will prepare your child, with my best ability,
for success within my classroom. As an educator I thrive on improvement, I
understand that every learner is unique, and do my best to meet each childs
needs.
In the end I want your child to feel confident in my classroom: as a
learner and a leader. I am looking forward to working with you and your child
this school year. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and
concerns.

Sincerely,
Kailee Harris
