Brief Description of Learning Experience:

The first thing I will do with my students is discuss with them what I expect from them, and what they
can expect from me. We will discuss what it means to have a positive and safe learning environment. Then
I will tell them what the consequences will be if they break the rules or dont meet the expectations.
After our discussion about what I expect and what a safe and positive learning environment is, we will
establish a list of rules and expectations together. I will add some rules, and with my final approval the
students will get to add rules. This is important because it is a way for them to let me know what they need
to feel safe in their learning environment. After we have decided on all of the rule and discussed what they
mean, I will assign each child a rule and have them create a poster that describes and illustrates the rule
(some rules may have to be done by more than one student). Once everyones posters are created I will
poste them in the front of the room, and I will also post them on the classroom blog so parents will have a
list as well.

because technology is being used by the teacher to post the rules to the blog and by the students/parents to
view the classroom rules. The students also assume an adult role by helping to create the rules for the
classroom.

Importance of technology: Using a website creation tool is critical to this project because this tool is what
makes the information available to students and parents at all times. It is also a good communication tool
for teachers and students.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: The internet is a very useful tool, but risks are involved when using
the internet. Internet safety for my students will be top priority when we are using the internet. I will always
abide by the rules stated in the Family Educational Privacy Act (FERPA) to ensure my students are safe. I
will never post any of the students private information. I will never disclose our location on the blog and I
will only identify children by their assigned numbers.
