Mission Statement
The Theatre Education Student Association is a nonprofit club, established in order to create
opportunities for students at Utah State University to share their talents and create meaningful
art, service and research.

Constitution: Theatre Education Student Association

Article I -- Name, Purpose and General Statements

Section 1: The official name of this organization shall be Theatre Education Student

Association.

Section 2: The club shall operate as a nonprofit organization.

Section 3: The club shall abide by the applicable policies and procedures of USU/SA and the

Utah State University Student Code.

Section 4: This organization shall exist for the following purposes:

A. To engage in projects related to theatre education and applied theatre.

B. To provide opportunities for students at Utah State University who have experience in

theatre or theatre education to create theatre and give meaningful service to the community.

C. To provide meetings/social events for students with similar interests to get to know

each other and exchange ideas for future creative and/or academic projects.

Article II -- Membership

Section 1: Membership is open to all USU students who have experience in Theatre and

education.

A. A 10 minute interview shall administered by the President of the club and shall be

required to determine proficient knowledge in the theatre arts and theatre education in order to

ensure membership will be an appropriate fit or the perspective member must have already been

accepted into Utah State Universities Theatre Education program.


B. Membership is open to all students without regard to race, creed, color, sex, national

origin, or disability.

C. To be considered an active members participants must come to ONE meeting a month,

or excuse their absence with the President.

Section 2: To become a member, one must fill out the membership application form and return it

to the secretary of the club, or be admitted to Utah State Universities Theatre Education program.

Section 3: To maintain membership in good standing one must: 1) Sign up for at least one

scheduled service/volunteer event once a semester 2) Arrive to scheduled service/volunteer event

at least 10 minutes prior in order to set up. 3) Notify the President by phone or email at least 24

hours in advance should an emergency arise.

A. Members shall commit to the club for a full semester. Should a member not be available for a

full semester, they must speak with the President.

B. Members shall be put on probation after: 2 infractions of excessive tardiness or 1 unexcused

absence from scheduled time.

C. Members shall be removed from the club should they: have 2 unexcused absences, or 3

infractions of excessive tardiness in a semester.

Article III - Officers

Section 1: The officers of this club shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary,

Historian, Assistant Historian, Freshman Liaison, Transfer Liaison, Theatre Student Association

Education Liaison, and Events Coordinator.


A. All officers must currently be enrolled as students at Utah State University and be

admitted to the Theatre Education Program.

B. All officers must commit to a one year term in office.

Section 2: The duties of the officers are as follows:

A. President: Preside over all meetings of the club and delegate responsibilities to other officers.

Act as the official representative of the club at other meetings and events. Meet regularly with

the Faculty Advisor to evaluate status and effectiveness of the club.

B. Vice President: Preside at club meetings and events in the absence of the president. Succeed

the president if he/she is unable to complete his/her term of office. Complete responsibilities

delegated to them by the President.

C. Secretary: Record and produce minutes of all meetings. Responsible to file and organize

membership application forms. Help with the responsibilities of the Vice President.

D. Historian/Assistant Historian: Record/document all functions, projects and events of TESA.

Must also be available to help members document their own projects as their schedules allow.

E. Liaisons: Communicate effectively the needs of their respective peers that they represent

within and outside of the organization.

F. Events: Plan and coordinate all social and academic events within the scope of the

organization.

Section 3: Officers shall be elected during the last meeting of the spring semester and shall serve

for a period of one year beginning June 1st. Officers shall be elected by the voting members
Present. Officers will be removed if they violate any of the policies and procedures of USU/SA

or as outlined in the Student Code. If previous officers leave their position during the school

year, that position open for re-election at the next possible meeting.

Article IV - Meetings

Section 1: There shall be one to three meetings each month, with the date and time to be

determined by simple majority at the first meeting. Meetings shall be scheduled every other

Monday unless otherwise specified.

Article V -- Financial Matters

Section 1: This club shall not provide monetary gain, incidentally or otherwise, to its directors or

membership except as payment for services rendered in the form of wages, salaries, or

incentives.
