To whom it may concern:

It is my honor and great pleasure to provide this letter of recommendation for Mrs. Kelly Henderson as
she pursues a position teaching science.

Kelly has successfully completed student teaching four sections of tenth grade Biology and one hour
of Anatomy/Physiology. The class sizes ranged from 27 to 33 students and included both gifted and
special needs students.

Kelly is to be commended for her professionalism, concern for her students, and quality of instruction.
She lesson plans well and works diligently at being organized. Her preparation each day is thorough
and the results evident. Her assignments and assessments were well conceived and developed with
student success in mind based and based on students individual strengths and weaknesses. Kelly is
always willing to go the extra mile to help her students. She arrives at school early and stays late on
a daily basis, and, on many occasions, she stayed for after school activities. Kelly also was willing to
attend IEPs and SAT proctor training. She even proctored the SAT this spring.

One area of strength for Kelly is the wonderful rapport she has with her students. Student respect is
obvious in her classroom. She deeply cares about her students, and they look to her for approval and
guidance. Her approach to teaching has generated a warm and close relationship with her classes as
well as our faculty.

In addition to the above, I have found Kelly to be receptive to new ideas; she eagerly implemented
various types of teaching methods that included Argument Driven Inquiry and Modeling, along with
various types of formative assessment. Kelly was the first teacher to implement our STEM project for
10th grade on infectious diseases. She actually made suggestions to change the order of the project
and added her own resources as well. Our science department chair even commented on how
impressed he was with her initiative and contributions and even said that the other science 10
teachers will be following her recommendations and additions. This is a great accomplishment for
any teacher.

As an educator for over 20 years, I highly recommend Mrs. Kelly Henderson, without reservation, for
any teaching position. I believe she has the intellect, passion, and skills to be successful anywhere,
and I believe her students will also be successful and well prepared.

Sincerely
