Semester 1 - Comments:
Sander is an enthusiastic inquirer who asks thoughtful questions and offers interesting insights to our class
discussions. He is also a caring and inclusive classmate who offers space for others to participate during group
activities. Moreover, he can successfully manage his time and belongings while working independently. His writing
begins with a clear idea and follows a logical structure that contains relevant details. His use of capitals and
punctuation is often correct, and he can correctly spell many single syllable words that include short vowels,
consonant digraphs (th/ch/sh) and blends (bl/st/tr). As a reader, he is beginning to connect words into phrases and
independently uses word-solving strategies such as making beginning letter sounds, looking for small chunks within
bigger words and self-correcting when first attempts dont make sense. As a mathematician, Sander can
consistently identify the stem, extend, translate and create repeating patterns. He can also describe the rule,
extend and translate growing patterns. He has developed his mathematical thinking while solving word problems
by moving from using tools to larger than one. I look forward to Sanders increased independence when making
decisions, as he can be influenced by peers. With improved confidence, he will have even more to offer as a leader
in our classroom! Lena Thomson

Sander demonstrates his knowledge and is improving his skills. He is very tolerant and respectful in Physical
Education class. Guideon Manhique

Sander understands and speaks Portuguese very well for his level. He shows great understanding of the language
and would benefit from further exposure to Portuguese, so that he has the opportunity to listen to and speak the
language on a daily basis. Paula Toste

peers. Sander has developed an excellent understanding of skills and concepts taught so far. Chantelle du Plessis

Semester 2 - Comments:
Sander is filled with curiosity. His creativity and ability to reflect deeply encourage thought-provoking questions
and complex interpretations of key concepts. He continues to read word-by-word but can now self-correct when SY 2015-2016
attempts at new words dont sound right or make sense. However, he needs to look at the pictures and ask
questions while reading to improve comprehension. As a writer, he uses appropriate sentence structure, including Attendence Semester 1 Semester 2
capitals, punctuation and verb tense. His stories are well-structured; however, he could include more details.
Tardies 1 1
Although his spelling is generally phonetic, and includes a variety of consonant blends and digraphs, he does
confuse basic short vowel sounds and is still developing an understanding of long vowel patterns. In Mathematics,

numbers apart to solve subtraction word problems. With more consistent commitment to all kinds of learning, he 0 1

will continue to grow as a learner. Lena Thomson

Sanders Portuguese language skills have improved, and he is a risk-taker because he speaks Portuguese from the
beginning to the end of class. Paula Toste

Sander was always committed and actively engaged in Performing Arts. He collaborated well and showed
enthusiasm. Cludia Costa

Sander demonstrated enthusiasm and creativity in Visual Arts. He understands and applies the concepts. He is a
communicator who expresses himself through his artwork. Chantelle du Plessis

Sander has improved skills in all PE activities. He understands the concepts and is a risk-taker willing to try new
skills. Guideon Manhique
