Greetings To Our Empower Student Supporters,

It is our hope this newsletter finds you well. This has been a busy two weeks at
Empower and things will not slow down in the foreseeable future.

We would like to kick off this newsletter with a big welcome to the newest member of
Team Empower. Val gave birth to Adalyn Arlowe Rose on 10 April. Val and the Kunze
family are doing well and enjoying integrating Adalyn into the family.

PLEASE FILL OUT THE PARENT SURVEY. WE ARE WORKING TO GET A 100%

OF OUR PROGRAM. IF YOU SENT THE SURVEY BACK, THANK YOU.

Empower students have been busy this last week pitching in on the remodeling. The
students were in groups of two or three. We discussed colors that inspire creativity, and
then the teams picked out colors for the walls upstairs. Then last week they painted their
walls, and the students did a great job. Next is the ceiling, that is being put in next week,
and the floor will be the middle of May.

We had the pleasure of welcoming two guest speakers. First a representative of

WINDOWS, Justine, talked with the students about healthy relations. We also had
Michele Hall stop by and explain what we can expect when we attend the food show this
Tuesday and considerations a restaurant owner makes to run a business.

With all that going on, we still found time to do some learning outside of school. There
was the day helping the school backpack program and bowling. We also had an excellent
day at the Audubon Center where we studied creek creatures including catching some
smelt. We spent the afternoon learning about porcupines and embroidered with
porcupine quills. The Pine County Historical Museum was another learning opportunity.
We spent an afternoon exploring Pine County history to include the wood-paneled car,
older household appliances, replicas of many Pine County towns in the early 1900s.
