CHEMGARD FRC
Fiber-reinforced, Polymer-modified Cementitious Fire Resistant Coating
Product Chemgard FRC is cement based, fiber reinforced, polymer
Description modified, 2-component, multi-purpose compound for fire
resistance and water proofing ability. It is specially formulated
with polymers, additives, fibres and properly graded
aggregates that protect metal and concrete substrates against
elevated temperature.

Uses Chemgard FRC is used as an economical and easy to use fire

resistant coating both for external and internal applications
such as:
Columns, Beams, Walls, Chimneys, Roof slabs and other
Concrete Structures.
Industrial buildings with elevated temperature ambience.
Steel Girders, Steel Plates, Angle Iron etc
Basements and Lift Pits.
Retaining Walls and Bridge Structures.

Advantages Chemgard FRC offers the following advantages:

Possesses water vapor permeability and does not blister
when used on steel and concrete substrates.
Flexible, flame retardant, provides protection against
damage due to fire.
Pre-batched components (no water added).
Impermeable on hardening
Brush or trowel applied.
Good adhesion to sound substrates
Fibers provide crack-bridging characteristics & prevent
debonding at elevated temperatures.

Application Details
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Substrate Surfaces must be clean, sound, free from grease, oil and
Preparation loosely adhering particles. Use suitable mechanical methods
such as abrasive blast cleaning, high pressure water jetting at
sufficient pressure. New or smooth faced concrete surfaces
should be sand-blasted. Blowholes and irregularities should be
filled with suitable repair products.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mixing Stir component A (liquid) thoroughly before pouring into a

clean mixing container. Add component B (powder) slowly
while mixing continuously. Use low speed electric mixers
(max.500 rpm) for 3 minutes avoiding entrapment of air. By
adding the powder in portions, the desired application
consistency can be obtained.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Application While the substrate is still in a saturated surface dry condition,

apply the first coat and leave to harden. Apply the second coat
as soon as possible after hardening of the first coat to ensure
proper adhesion between layers.
After application of the second coat, finish Chemgard FRC
by rubbing down with a soft dry sponge. In case of a third
coat, scratch the surface of the second coat with the edge of
the trowel to provide a mechanical key.

Curing Keep Chemgard FRC moist for 24 hours and apply a mist
spray for another 24 hours to ensure its optimal development
of waterproofing capability.

Cleaning Application and mixing tools should be cleaned with water

while material is still fresh. Hardened material can only be
removed mechanically.
