To Whom It May Concern:

I have known Nick Newport for 2 years. I first met Nick when he was one of my students in my
Chemistry class. This has allowed me to observe him in a variety of challenging situations both
in the classroom and in the laboratory. He worked well with his lab team, and focused not only
on completing the lab, but on understanding the techniques and reasons for the lab. Nick also
demonstrated great patience when dealing with others.

After completing Chemistry I was fortunate enough to have Nick as a teachers aid / lab
assistant. During this time Nick helped me grade papers, prepare solutions (for labs) and solve
problems before they became problems. During this time I observed many positive traits in
Nicks work ethic. The first thing I noticed was that Nick did not need to be supervised or
reminded to complete the job at hand. He would arrive to class and pick up where another
teachers assistant had left off. He would also keep me up to date on his progress so the next
teachers assistant would know what still needs to be done. He would inform me of any
problems he may have noticed or when my students have turned in papers with suspiciously
similar answers. Nick demonstrated a selfless quality. He did this by noticing when I had too
many things going on at once and stepped forward and offered his help. This could be as simple
as helping me by collecting quizzes or tests, to more complicated jobs like setting up a lab. I was
impressed because this help was freely offered when he saw the need.

I feel that Nick Newport will be a positive addition your college or business of employment.
Please feel free to contact me with any further questions,

Sincerely,

Scott Graham
