By eliminating the need to keep the extensive inventory of original
equipment replicas that are used in traditional technical training and
are more expensive to procure, operate and maintain, the VMT also re-

The VMT provides a fully interactive 3D graphical simulation on which
trainees can develop and refine the expertise they will need to maintain
the Airbus A320.
The student can use the VMT to:
- apply their theoretical training before moving onto real equipment
- practise maintenance procedures in a safe virtual environment
- learn how to use the complex maintenance systems installed
on Airbus aircraft and
- develop their troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.
The VMT can be operated either in stand-alone mode or in a networked
classroom environment with an instructor operating station (IOS) and
multiple trainee stations. The IOS includes specific software modules
for the instructor to monitor, control and give feedback to students.
The system will only automatically stop users if they perform an action
that could jeopardize their own or the aircrafts safety.
In such an event the trainee will be given vital feedback on the risk and
hazard involved. The VMT also features a dedicated learning manage-
ment system to manage students exercises and monitor their perfor-
mance.
