Brief Introduction

Fleetwork Trainer is a component of Altriz Naval Training Simulator which

has been developed specifically for the training of naval tactical
communication and ship maneuvering. The development has been
undertaken by Altriz Technology, in collaboration with the National Defence
University of Malaysia. The collaboration is in line with the Malaysian
Government program to nurture and promote participation of local
companies in defense industry. Altriz Naval Training Simulator comprises of
a product development roadmap towards a complete framework for an
extensive Ship Handling Simulator.

Being specifically designed to cater the tactical and ship maneuvering

training, the Fleetwork is capable of conducting the following training and
courses.

Features

Altriz Naval Training Simulator has been meticulously designed to offer the
following features:-

User Friendly - The instinctually illustrated icons and buttons make the
Fleetwork Trainer very user friendly and quick to learn. The information
presented on the tool tip and dialog boxes help the users to operate the
Fleetwork Trainer right after a short briefing. Such features allow the
system to be administered and operated by the Instructors and Trainees
alike.

Cost Effective – Being a simulator fully based on components-off-the-shelve

(COTS) hardware, the Fleetwork Trainer guarantees a cost effective
investment and lower total cost of ownership. The system is easy to setup
and does not required specialized hardware and space. It can be set up
quickly in a normal classroom or dedicated simulator room.

Agility - The software technology deployed in the development of the

Fleetwork Trainer is based on proven industry standards. Combined with
COTS hardware requirements, the Fleetwork Trainer promises easy
integration, customization and upgrading.

Robustness – The Fleetwork Trainer has undergone stringent usability and

quality control process internally, as well as by independent experts from
the technology and maritime industry. Altriz technical team continuously
carries out comprehensive testing to ensure the product maintains it
robustness for every release.

Scalability – Being a component of Altriz Naval Training Simulator, the

Fleetwork Trainer inherits the Altriz Naval Training Simulator architecture
which has been engineered to be highly scalability to allow customization in
meeting with users’ ever changing training needs and future upgrading.

Supportability – Being a computer based simulator which adopts an open

architecture and operate under a known Microsoft Windows platform, the
Fleetwork Trainer can be easily supported and maintained by locally and
internationally.

Fleetwork Trainer Overview

Instructor Module - The Instructor Module is used to setup, manage and

control the entire Fleetwork training and exercise such as:-

 Setting of Exercise Area which is in the form of Electronic Navigation

Chart and 3D panoramic view
  Load and control own and traffic ships

 Setting of training environment such as day, night, rain, fog, water

current and wind

 Prepare and conduct Fleetwork examination

 Evaluate and assessment Trainee achievement

 Record training and exercise for debriefing purposes

 Time tunneling

 Monitor and take over Trainee ship

To achieve training realism, the Instructor can at any time select the
following scenarios to allow the Trainee to practice their tactical
communication skills.

Trainee Module – The Trainee Module is equipped with Information and

Control Panels. The Control Panel allows the Trainee to operate the
Fleetwork in accordance to the training plans. Amongst the functions of the
Control Panel are:-

 Set and change Course

 Set and change Speed

 Select Ship Field of View

 Select Radar Ranges

 Change Guide and OTC

 Select and Hoist Flags

 Set and perform Flashing

 Prepare Electronic Maneuvering Form

 Select and set Navigation Sound

 Select and set Navigation Light

 Prepare and send text messages

Communication Equipment – In order to provide verbal communication

training, a radio or intercom communication based communication set can
be deployed.
Instructor and Trainee Consoles – Instructor and Trainee Consoles can be
configured from Windows-based graphic workstations that meet the
required specifications. Two units of display (monitor) per workstation are
necessary in order to achieve the desired training effect.

Overhead Projector – To enable briefing and debriefing be conducted more

effectively to a group of trainees simultaneously, an overhead projector is
required. More accurate and effective debriefing is made possible using the
record and playback function available at the Instructor Module.

Reasons behind Fleetwork Trainer.

There are two reasons behind the selection of this product. Firstly, the
appealing needs and the high marketability. This is due to the fact that this
product focusing on the very basic needs of the naval training. It is used in
their tactical training comprised both voice and visual communication. By
focusing on this aspect, it is a sure appealing for the naval department. On
top of that, the price is our second reason as we offered the best price for
our product. Our price is much more reasonable and efficient compared to
other foreign product. Although the price is economical, it still holds up
against others as the specification and standard are on par with the top
quality product.

Target market for Fleetwork Trainer.

The target market for the product is Brunei Darussalam. The country has the
population of 433,300 people and we are targeting to sell and use it in the
Muara Naval Base. The decision is made due to the fact that Brunei is one of
the countries who received training assistance from our Malaysian Royal
Navy. Other than that, Malaysia and Brunei have a military bilateral
agreement which was imposed under the Asian Military Partnership
Program. The other decisive factor on choosing Brunei is because there is no
other competitor which will supply or produce the same product as we
have. The price which we are planning to sell is 654,921.74 Brunei Dollar.
Fleetwork Trainer Promotion Strategies.

Malaysia and Brunei have history in dealing in terms of defense mechanism.

Malaysia provides with various form of military training to enhance their
readiness and competency in dealing with sea threat such as pirates,
smugglers and immigrants. Due to this, we want to use this opportunity and
use two strategies to promote our product which is site presentation and
also trade exhibition.
