Agenda posted on board, Justin went over the agenda for the period with
students at beginning 1. Do Now 2. Guided Notes 3. Mini Lesson 4.
Guided Practice . 5. Individual Practice (Homework). Justin started lesson
with a Do Now reflecting previous evenings individual practice. Justin
prompted students and had one go to board to work out the Do Now - a
multiplying binomials by binomials. Justin then introduce notes and
1.A.4*
provided a lesson on multiplying binomials by polynomials using the box
method. He then used individual white boards for guided practice and
making frequent check-=ins with students. He also posed good guided
questions to the students to provoke the learning process. Justin used
Khan Academy as the individual practice, a great way for student-teacher
check.
Justin had a student show work using teacher mobile device. The

station

with a model and a template for the box method)

* Observations must collect and document evidence for at least the focus elements. Focus
elements are highlighted.
** Evidence included is indicative of performance relative to each element. It may include evidence
that demonstrates one or more of the dimensions (quality, consistency, scope) of an element are
being met or that performance is not yet at the expected threshold.

The learning environment provided during this class was a structured

lesson plan as a safe learning zone. Justin provided attentiveness to
students who needed help. The students showed a comfort level of
feeling free to ask for help, as several did during the guided practice

portion of the lesson. He also had a student show work on the board who
was comfortable with being in front of the class and communicating their
work. Justin also used a teaching mobile device to have a student show
their work from their work station.

2.D.2

Justin and I spoke about the lesson and had some good reflection on the
4.A.1 pacing, and we discussed some approaches during the mini lesson to
keep on time and pace.

Focused Feedback
Justin maintains a very good classroom environment
starting with the agenda. He has a clear and concise
expectation planned through his agenda. The students
have continuity with Justins planning of each class starting
Reinforcement with a Do Now. He continually assesses his students
Area/Action: through subjective and objective forms. He makes
(strengths) appropriate instruction adjustments as he gathers
information/data. He should continue to pursue current and
new technologies for the classroom. Justin is a whiz at
educational technology and has helped the math
department grow and the school for that fact.
One area Id recommend Justin to focus on would be pacing
Refinement of his lesson. He has his agenda set for the class and
Area/Action: sometimes will not stay on task/pace of the lesson. Weve
(areas for discussed this and one positive is that he over plans so that
improvement) there is always time on learning, but sometimes there can
be a key point not made by the end of the lesson.
